Part Number?

Folks,

I am looking to replace my center air/heat vent on the dash. I'm getting contrasting part numbers, & want to make sure I get the right one. I have a '97 328is, & am wondering if all e36 center vents will fit my year.

1. what is the actual part number?
2. is there a cut off (years) that will fit my vehicle
3. how tough is the install - tech article, ect?

As always, thanks much.

Anyone have an idea about this? I wanna make sure older ('92-'96) e36 center vents are compatable with a '97.

Does it matter if it came off a convertable, sedan or coupe?

I don't understand. It had a ($55) part number listed for yours.

Can't you check compatibility by getting the part numbers for the other cars in question. Or is it that the part numbers ARE different and you don't know why? Give me an example?

Oh, maybe I'm not looking right. After I put in my vehicles logistical data, It gave me searchable criteria, ie. engine, drive shaft, lighting, ect, ect. I didn't come across anything that remotely resembled that area or part I'm lookin' for. Help me out, would ya. What am I doin' wrong?

I think you arent scrolling down in the "Main Group:" list box

After you select your car click [search for parts] and you'll get the "Diagram Selection" page.
Scroll down the "Main Group:" list box and select "64 Heating and AC"
Then select "64 05 Air Duct"

At the bottom it shows your part. Click it and get the part list.
