Failed LEDs on 11-Button OBC Display

Is there any way to repair the failed LED segments on the 7 or 18 button clock/data display unit? Is the only solution to purchase a new unit?

Thanks for replying, Jeron. I must have used bad search criteria because I was not able to locate the posts that you referenced regarding repair of the E36 LED obc display. If you could find the information and point me to it I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks again.

hi dave

I have been trying to open the link but it is not working. Can you confirm if it is possible to repair the bad pixel on the LED.

Hi adey,
The LED fix that is proposed in the bimmer forum replaces the backlighting for the 7-segment display - after thinking about it, I'm not sure this will fix my clock - I've got some LEDs that have maybe 5 of the 7 segments working so why would the backlighting make any difference? I guess if the entire LED was dark then maybe the backlighting is the likely cause, but with only certain segments of each LED bad it may be a more serious issue with the electronics.

May be a bad solder on the LED's in question. That seems to ring bell.
