Angry window problems HELP-HELP!!

Does anyone have any words of advise (nothing rude please!!).

My E36 BMW has its windows stuck half way down (or up! depending upon how you look at it). Anyway, I checked the 30 watt amp and it is blown. GREAT I thought, so I replaced the amp...or tried to as each time I go to put a new one in it just blows whilst Im am in the process of putting it in.

Presume therefore that the motor etc is all fine and thats its some annoying electrical fault somewhere (maybe to do with the alarm as the windows were working fine until I put the alarm on without putting the windows up and then realised when I returned to car few seconds later that they no longer worked).

I've removed the door panels as I wanted to at least try and push / pull the windows up (gets a bit cold when driving!!). No joy. Any ideas how to get the windows up without electrics working or ideally any ideas what to do??

HELP HELP..Im poor and can't afford any professional help and Im new to all of this.....sorry!

Most window motors have a hex end on the shaft that lets you turn the motor itself to move the window.

If this started when you installed a new alarm I would start with that looking for the electric issue.

Had a similar problem it was the power window relay you will find it behind the glove box.

Good luck:

The e30 had a plastic plug in the door panel so you didn't have to remove it. But the e36 doesn't.So pull the door panel, and If your tool kit is still in the trunk, theres a hex key. Insert it into the end of the motor shaft and turn it. It will do the sun roof as well.
By the way, did you reset the window overload button under the steering wheel?

Comfort Relay E36

Replace the comfort relay located on the left side of the steering wheel, its a blue one that taller that the others in that area, your dealer should have one in stock.

I, too, am a poor soul who just wants his rear passenger side window to go up until it's warmer outside.

I have a '93 325i and, for the life of me, I don't see any exposed spot on the wiper motor that will take a hex wrench. Do all of the motors in the E36's have the manual crank option?

I can take a picture tomorrow if it's needed.

Thanks!

well.... my e30 325E has been a bit weak on fuel flow. i try disconnecting the radio(bc flow is better with it off) i thought id try it disconnected. took it for a drive and was so proud of myself that i wanted to wash her. so i go to roll the windows up, NOTHING. both windows in my coupe wont budge, wont even try. like if i straight just cut the wires. WTF? if you have any idea, please. idk why i bought another e30 even though i know the last one failed me.... oh yeah, bc their too beautiful and when working properly they way too much fun. i feel damned.

Is the circuit breaker button popped up? On an e30 it is just forward of the passenger window button, on the center console. On an e36 it is under the steering wheel above your right knee. If both windows are not operating, lots of times thats the problem.
