a 1991 325i,i noticed that the tempareture pointer guage is on red when i turn on the ignition without starting the car,,, i did replace the coolant sensor but no change

If the engine starts, runs, and does not overheat, you could have a short in the wiring harness. Check your DME for fault codes using a BMW scan tool. There would be a code stored if a short is present.
