I seek the wisdom of you wise ones ! I have just got myself a manual transmission 318i 1994 bmw. I have taken my Dayton ms6000 navigation system out of my old car and obviously want to put into my lovely bmw. Trouble is does my 318i have a speed impulse wire ???? If so what does it look like ( i.e what colour etc)?? If you can tell me the colour of the reversing wire too that would be helpfull.
Can anyone reccomend a good workshop manual ? I have spent money on a brand new Haynes manual and what load cr &*^p that is, cheap paper. Poor diagrams etc. They have really gone down in my estimation. Glad I found this site. Lots of lovely articles and useful info. Keep up the good work ! Simon. |

I would reccommend taking at look at the bentley manuals. They have very comprehensive wiring diagrams.

There is a speed sensor attached to the upper right side of the transmission. You should be able to tap into this and get your signal...
