Question it does'nt make any sence.....

Picture the scene.....

A quiet industrial estate with a perfect 1/4 mile straight road, lots of people each side.

I'm guided to a point and a guy stands next to my car, he then calls over to the group and then some one else pulls up along side me.

Instead of Paul Walker and Vin Diesel sat next to each other there is now me and some guy in a Jap spec Subaru Impreza lined up to race.....

The Subaru is running 340 Bhp and it is 4 wheel drive (thats all I know)

Mine is a 1995 Euro spec 328i sedan. its got the later 2.8 engine, a Cosworth Ramair filter (8" diameter) Bosche split four plugs, running on Shell's Optimax fuel and a standard exhaust. Also the car is always driven hard.......

Im sitting there thinking that against this Subaru im going to look very silly:lol:

The guy counts down and them we go.........

.......but here is the thing I dont understand?

This guy takes no prisoners, he's been street racing for 5 years.
We both pull off at the same time keeping neck and neck together, he only beats me by a cars length?

How can my Bm (thats running an estimated 200Bhp) keep up as well as it did against a 340Bhp Subaru?

Has anyone any idears......

am i running more than 200Bhp?
are 6 cylinder Bm's that quick?
why is the grass green?

please tell, its doing my head in......

Good question. I'm still trying to figure out how my 325is kept side by side with a mid 80's Ferrari 328 GTB til 130MPH yesterday.

We were at a stoplight and I revved my engine, he responded, and at the green we were off. Let me tell you, there is no other sound like a Ferrari engine.

It sure seems that way. My bimmer seems to run better when I'm really on her.

Those 328's are DAMN FAST! I dont know how familiar you arte with California, but the main highway between L.A. and Las Vegas is Interstate 15, there are sections of it, where there is literally no police, hence a fast car's dream run. I was on my way to the SEMA show with Don, in his tricked-out 911C2, and we raced a 328i for about 50 miles, hitting speeds around 150, 160 Mph. I couldnt believe that car kept up.
