Goofy looking. The very low price might indicate it’s not all that good.

Not sure the guy knows what he has since he mentioned it's made out of stainless steel.

It has good core, why is something that is unfamiliar to someone, goofy and therefore not good? Just because person looking at it is no familiar with it or..?

I have seen one ore two of these on e-bay a few years ago. I did some research and was told they are not designed specifically for Porsche 930 motors but a V-configuration motor. Not sure if this is accurate but made sense to me as the inlet and outlet would require additional plumbing.

I've seen worse, but I am sure it would work ok, but not ideal for a 930, given the inlet/outlet locations. Would be better off with an ebay universal intercooler.

Tight curve back to the tb.. Could be fixed with an outlet change I guess.

Stainless steel construction?
That’s funny! You can find those IC’s all over the Internet for cheap. |

Please explain what type of cooled air does v-engine and what type 930 engine requires? This thread is a good indication that people tend to think that 930 is something so special that even intercooler has to cost thousands in order to be even remotely suitable for the car.. Gee.. That intercooler in the ad is just a standard FMIC, it is a quality one, good core, high flow vertical core, just not made for 930, that's all.

This would be a "V" configuration motor...V-4, V6, V8...not the juice
![]() But I guess you could plumb anything into any engine if the intercooler is cheap enough. This is a good opportunity for someone to dig up some wild plumbing solutions "Rube Goldberg style". Maybe this Intercooler will show up. Last edited by 356911930; 02-01-2019 at 09:05 AM.. |

So for anyone who is going to swap out the 930 motor for a V8.

1) because it is cheap, dosnt mean it is bad.
2) this is a standard non-porsche IC (actually two cores + casted end pieces welded together) straight from one of the biggest suppliers of IC in china. It is a very good IC for routing in and out in same side, very common style IC. It has a nice core - just as good as any other for that size. I have an excact same version in slightly used condition on the shelf that came of a 930 3.0 turbo raced engine with the same 930 adapted brackets still on. Happy to sell that IC for less, with shipment out of Europe if anyone interested. I agree with Raceboy, the porsche community is different from rest of the tuning market. This one would be a much better choice. All you have to is change the orientation of the “in” pipe. Gonna be buying this one in a few weeks

Do you have anyidea of the dimensions of this IC? Are you putting this on a 930, or a "911-turbo"? I am doing a 911-turbo, and this price is ridic-good. |

Mine is a turbo conversion. I have a Carrera intake. The dimensions are posted on the eBay ad. I ordered it last night. I have another intercooler I bought from another pelican that I have used the last few years but was never happy with the fitment

Technically I changed the EVO X "outlet" orientation, the "inlet" is actually the outlet and feeds into the throttle body with a 90° elbow, a short 10" straight, then another 90° elbow. I am not using the CX Racing version, but rather a prototype version AEM Intakes made years ago with a Garrett core, but I will say it works fantastic. Intake temps are ambient in any condition as long as the vehicle is moving. Sitting still subjects the core to radiant heat but that applies to all applications.

I searched pretty extensively on eBay for an off the shelf solution for the 911/930. Was pretty set on the 93-95 rx7 v mount intercooler but would have to flip one of the end tanks and reorient the intercooler outlet. Too much work, especially after seeing the evo X. Here is a link to the rx7 v mount.
