installing cam sync

about to install the cam sync on the smog/scavenge pump housing.
do I need to set the engine to TDC or a few degrees BTDC

I need to use a bolt and nut on the pulley gear correct.
what is the gap

also, I have 2 knock sensors installed on #2 and 5 heads under the fan shroud.
any ideas for perhaps mounting a connector on top of the fan shroud or how to get the wiring in there

I made a hole big enough for the wiring plug and put a big grommet on the shroud. Then I got a smaller grommet which I cut in one side so that I could put the wire through it, and pushed the second grommet with wire into the large grommet.

Knock sensor install question? Did you just drill the heads and use a stud and nut to fasten the knock sensor? I need to do this to my heads before installing them.

Ups, my cache showed this one as new post, but anyway:

For Cam sync I used this advice:
Quote:
The exact cam sensor position is not critical, but it needs to happen before the missing tooth that happens before TDC#1 firing.

i.e. if your engine can be rotated backwards, set it to TDC#1 firing, then turn backwards until the missing tooth aligns with the sensor, then turn backwards another 30 deg or so then set the cam sensor to line up with the tooth.
So my cherry hall sensor is at the pump gear FW side a bit above where TDC was. IIRC about 1mm gap, no misses sofar.

for the temp sensor and Knock sensor I had the heads drilled and threaded.
one knock on each side.
