Digital WUR
While doing a search earlier someone mentioned that Turbokraft was selling a digital WUR. This interests me as I like the idea of being able to tune something as inaccessible as the WUR with a laptop.
Does anyone have any experience with one and/or know the price of one? Is any other vendor producing one besides Turbokraft?

I bought a Brian Leaske adjustable one, after I read early this year that the Turbo version was going to be available Real Soon Now, but I wanted one Right Now. It's actually very accessible with a Kokeln and no A/C, although that probably doesn't help much... ![]() I see the digital one seems to still be "pre-order only", although I could have sworn that someone here said they fitted one, so maybe there's some beta versions.

Digital WURs are out there. I don't know what the hold up is in getting them to market. Maybe the EFI tuners have bought them off? Ha!

Neil Harvey at Performance developments (I think that is the right company name) is making the real deal digital WUR as we speak.
He will be selling it thru Imagine Auto whenever it actually comes out, and probably directly as well... It will be worth the wait as a decent alternative to EFI. I don't believe it has hit the market just yet. |

The digital ones out there currently for sale were not for turbo cars. We will have to keep waiting.

Digital WURs for the 930 do exist but have not yet been released for sale. The price point that I quoted above was given by one of the dealers.
I think the advantage will be in tuning. The manual unit such as Brian Leask sells is very labor intense to get perfect. It also must be re-tuned when you make other changes to the engine.

With that price point, I could see a bunch of people just skipping over it to budget EFI.

The Neil Harvey one is going to be really advanced. It will have some sort of built in boost control (I can't remember all the details off the top of my head), and you will be able to set every part of the power curve to deliver the fuel you want.
yeah, EFI is better, but try getting your car EFI for under 4-5,000 grand, and tuned right. So it will probably be a viable alternative. To me it sounded worth the money when you would spend half that amount to get the Leask two part set up with that rpm selector. |

Yea, but you can do an Accel Dfi like mine that costs 1-2 grand and it works well and gets rid the metering plate that clogs the air passage to the turbo. The digital WUR sounds cool... if it were for about $250. Most of the problems still remain with the cis (metering plate, gas milage etc..) and with the amount of sensors that his thing uses you could run a full stand alone with the benefit of ignition control as well.
If this was a complete price chopper to EFI then I would say it was a viable option, but after running injection I couldnt imagin going back.

The digital WUR will have the capability to manage a few extra things but that isn't the point. For the folks who want to retain CIS this is huge. $1000 is chump change when compared to the cost and setup of EFI. It's all about options for CIS. For some folks it is not practical or even foolish to spend thousands to EFI a weekend hobbie car. That is the target demographic.

Unless this digital WUR comes packaged with an engine dyno, I don't see how $1K is going to be the only cost involved in getting the engine tuned properly with a new controller for the mechanical fuel injection.

Seems we've been hearing this level of (lack of) development on this digital WUR deal for a few years now.......
The lack of progress is unnerving and rather untimely. Until we see this device in practical use, any conjecturing or analysis is just guesses -

Guessing about what? How they work?
You don't need a Dyno to tune a WUR. A $300 LM-1 works just fine.
