Lil hot stuff just sold for $250K. A good look for nicely modded 930s when a very nice 26K original miles paint etc for the very nice original 79 930 that RNMed today on BAT for under $140K. A similar comparison result with value / interest as on some special muscle car prices vs nice originals not long ago.

I was surprised at the hot stuff sale price, count me as one who doesn't see the value.

Some day I'll have to have my engine done. What is the benefit of twin plugged heads on a Turbo motor? I thought it helped a high strung high compression motor, not a Turbo.

Its nice, but I absolutely don't see why its worth $250k. I think it went way over market.

I saw this car too and also can only shake my head. How a 3.3 w/ k27 and CIS engine under some nicely executed body mods and paint and some nice seats ever got more than $120k is just lost on me. That's how off I am.

You can add to that there's an ass for every seat. Hope the new owner has fun with it.

My 86 is still pretty new to me, runs and drives great, but this year I want to see what I can/should do to it to keep it in top form and any sensible mods I should have done.

I'll bet he does as I also would. It costs a lot and takes a long time to get it to that level.

Sure, not for everyone but I really like my performance upgraded 930s, by far, the most. An evolving interest for me in recent decades since owning a modest performance Porsche in 1963. The 930 was designed to have and be able to handle much more performance if you wanted it. Go for it and enjoy what you do to it.

don't even get me started on BaT lately

the GPW '88 with burg sport gut & w/ ab unspecified carfax "hit to the LF" RNM'd @ like $85k... yet an '82 or '83 SC slant w/ a 3.3 & 4spd hit like $87k & that lil hot stuff hits 250 beans? MAKES ZERO SENSE, any of it

I too was shocked to see ***** bidding on that - he must know something we don't... or knows the seller lol? (NOT accusing or something I'd think he'd do - just throwing out a scenario). That car had zero indication of how tracked whooped it was IMO and claimed 550hp on CIS?

Riiiight. I mean, good for it / us... just non-sensical I guess

Like most of us I imagine I often try to peg the value of mine in its mod state etc - Levi's answer of $75-250k is spot on lol...

Buying a modded car is best IMO... IF it's still in good condition and not beaten to w/in an inch of its life. ZERO way to replicate the mods vs. the price of buying already done. Prob is a seller's mods have to align w/ a buyer's taste. I'd really like to see properly mod'd cars (one's that follow what the race cars did) command more than they do, as stocker's are a SNORE and useless unless you're buying for investment.

KRLocke... twinplug was used in the factory race cars to protect against pre-detonation, allow for better spark and higher boost - made a huuuuge difference in the responsiveness of mine, esp coupled w/ crankfire

If you buy modded, you really need to make sure all the modification info is included. This could be an issue with a dealer. I know the files on my 930 are 4-5" thick not including digital files.

Good to know, thank you, someday I'm sure I'll need a rebuild and twin plug will be on the list.

Besides just being cool to have a big distributer cap with 14 wires running to 12 plugs and 2 coils I feel feel the extra protection of more fire in the cylinder has saved my arse several times in the last 10 years.

Is there a thread with mods to do and not do with costs and trade offs?

Buy;

https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/1155651-71-coupe-rsr-project-25k.html

https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-used-parts-sale-wanted/1148753-89-3-3-turbo-engine-project.html

Find a G50.

Bet you could build a really fun driver for around 100k.

How about this? You could turn this one back into a fun street car.
"1979 SC vintage modded to 934.5 clone" located in Porsche cars for sale by dealer.

Agree. A wide 930 look to match its wicked performance. That car is sorted and would be hard to duplicate and take much more time and money.
