Cost to purchase a modified 930
Hi, what is the market value range for a nice, driver quality 930 that is converted to effective 930S or Ruf BTR specs?
Thank you |

Fair enough. I’d want a G50 swap, bore out to 3.4L, larger turbos/intercooler, upgraded brakes.
I know the cost to build would be very high - do the built cars resell for the cost of build? Thank you |

But in my expierence you'll loose 30-40% of the cost to build if you do the work yourself. If you pay someone 60%

![]() My BTR clone. All Ruf parts including intercooler, oil cooler, front valance, steering wheel, gauges…… Engine is twin plug 3.4. I collected the parts for years. Finding them today will be more difficult but not impossible. If the hoarders on Pelican got together bet they could build ten of them. She goes into the shop next month for a G50 swap.

If you're trying to save a few $ and don't want originality you can save by picking up a 930 clone or hot-rod, something like this modified SC.
I guess a g-50 would be nice but for the occasional blast its not on my radar. ![]()

Buy Juan's car, it is the best value for a modified turbocharged high hp air cooled car.

Beautiful examples thank you. I think it’s prohibitive to build myself.

I would look at 50+ bring a trailer auctions to get some idea. the biggest thing to consider is who did the work, corners cut, stuff like that.

^ that’s what I was going to suggest. In the little bit of BAT research I’ve done, it seems like modifications hurt value until a point when the modifications take it to another level. Of course you need a buyer looking for a heavily modified car.

Similar to RSR / 934 looks and performance to match in a car you can drive on the street. Probably will not get the build costs. A few bidders and commenters do, but most BAT people have no clue or interest in builds like this, yet ?

When I started my search last year I pored over ads everywhere I could find them. What bring a trailer added was the commentary. You get little nuggets about this mod and that. I decided I wanted a bone stock car that has never been fooled with and lucked out finding my 86.
It's nearly a full time job buying a Turbo and you better be good at your job. |

Here's one I followed since it's similar to my build but I dare say, mine's quite a bit nicer:

Not in possession of my own 930 (yet) but in general: mods... you will do them just for yourself, not for the value of the car. I owned a 1999 Yamaha Vmax which I heavily modified to my personal specs NOS etc... it was awesome ❤️
However, I knew when I was finally selling the bike, it would fetch a nice price because it was a just great looking bike compared to lot of others, but it hit nowhere near the value I put in it. It was fine though... I enjoyed it like crazy :-) Now a 930 on the horizon when the right one presents itself... Last edited by neo930; 01-23-2024 at 02:09 PM.. |

Lil'l hot stuff must be a very nice build as I noticed an esteemed pelican member who is very knowledgeable about this type of Porsche has been bidding on it. Good luck.

I finally looked at Lil hot stuff. It’s really nice especially for a ‘79. Very clean so I’m wondering how much was replaced vs refinished. I wish my gauges were that nice. I know, just takes money.
