Help me with Turbo Wheel fitment
I bought these on a whim out of a car dealers garage. These were with a Porsche Turbo he took in on trade.
Here is what I know (or think I know): They are Kinesis. They are 18" diameter. They are 9" fronts and 11" rear. Front offset is 7" Rear offset is 8.25" Here is what I would like to know: Are these Magnesium centers? Will they fit my 930 with standard 930 brakes? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Those are 8s and 10s. If the backspacing is 7" and 8.25" you will need spacers. My guess is that those are made for a 993.

Thanks guys. What size spacers to you think I would need? Even if they are not larger as I thought. These are much lighter than my current wheels. I still may used them.

If you are going to the trouble of adding spacers I would take it a step further and customize the spacing to put the outer lip of the wheel exactly where you want it. With 9" & 11" total widths you will have plenty of room on the inside so that is no longer a concern.
Does your 930 have a factory 1" spacer on the rear with no spacer in the front? An 11" wheel with 8.25" of back spacing leaves only 2.75" from the hub to the outer rim lip, 2" for the front. Measure that same distance on the wheels you are using now and extrapolate what additional spacing you would need to put it exactly where you want it. Let me know the answer to what spacers you are using now and I will calculate your new spacing based on what I am using and see if we come up with the same figures. Off the cuff I'd say you need an extra 1" in the rear and 1.5" in the front. Bill Verburg is probably getting a woody reading this, ha!

I have the standard 1" rear spacers and none up front. My goal is to put as much tire under the car as possible while using a lightweight wheel. I may even go to the trouble of having new halves put on these to make the m the correct offset and wider. Or, I may just sell them and buy new wheels. Help me figure this out.

Now we're talkin'!
Generally you can get 13" of actual width under the rear and 11" of actual width under the front IF you are no lower than Euro hieght AND the tire is no more than 25.75" tall. This will tell you everything you need to know: ![]()

I had the same offset problem on my BBS magnesium racing wheels. I changed the wheel halves, inner and outer, to the exact fitment desired. I have parts available if needed.
(2) 2" outers (2) 3" outers (2) 7" inners Let me know. Blaine

I am not too sure of the value......but probably $120 each for the outers and $200 each for the inners. They are in great shape.

The wheel shells from most BBS Mg wheels are 20 bolt. the Kinesis are 40 bolt. Those probably will not fit......

Bryan - 996 wheels will not fit unless you use spacers.

Front
An 8" wheel is actually ~9" wide. A 48mm positive offset is 2" off center (4.5") = 6.5" of back spacing which might be a bit too tucked in for a 930 with no spacers in front. Ballpark guess is you need about a 2" spacer to put them flush with the fender lip. Rear A 10" wheel has ~11" of actual width. A 40mm positive offset is 1.57" off center (5.5") = 7.1" of back spacing with no spacer. If you have a 1" rear spacer as many 930s do then the wheel is pushed out to 6.1" BS. My guess is you would need an additional 1" spacer in the rear. Please check my math on this and compare it to what you have now and how you would like it to fit, I simply ran through it quickly off the cuff.

Hey guys, I just went through this on the weekend. I mounted 17" RUF speedlines on my 1985 European Issue .
Tires are Michelins, 235X45 Fronts and 285X40 Rears. Rears were a piece of cake, just removed the factory spacer and fit was perfect, just need long wheel nuts. Fronts were a totally different story. I had to remove all of the A/C gear under drivers fender, and shave the back of the chin spoiler on both sides to get adequate clearance. Even now, I will rub the washer bottle on full lockout left. The story is about to change again this week when I mount a big red kit. Fronts look to fit fairly easily, in fact I may end up with the wheels about 1/8th further inside the fender which will be fine. It looks like I'll have to machine the factory spacer for the rear down to 5/8ths or so to keep the rears under the fenders. ANyone that has ideas on how to make all of this easier, please don't be shy to fire away.... DB |

I would just buy a set of 1/2" spacers for the rear instead of having your existing spacers machined. I use open end lug nuts in order to see exactly how many threads are being used.

Thx for that, it seems that there are no problems that money can't fix.....
DB Any ideas on the front? My car had no spacer on the front, and I hope the new brembo rotor will bring me in a tad, but I don't like tha thought of any rubbing under there. DB |
