Ready to go back into the car today! Complete engine rebuild due to worn exhaust guides and numerous oil leaks, including the #8 main bearing o-ring. Stock configuration except for the B&B exhaust and K27-7200 upgrade performed by a prior owner. Rebuild performed by Aaron Hatz at Flat Six, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN.

Hi Jonathan,
I'm going to put the stock intercooler back on for now. At some point I will probably upgrade that too, but I want to keep the factory air conditioning compressor, if possible. My engine rebuilder likes the Andial. I retained the 0.8 bar stock boost spring, but will probably go to 0.9 or 1.0 bar when I replace the IC. I'm hoping the economy improves soon, so I'll have more cash to spend on the other upgrades! __________________ Steve 1989 930S Factory Slant |

Here's the bottom view of my engine with the B&B headers and heat exchangers. I NEED heat up here in Minnesota! Seriously, I've been watching RarlyL8's (Brian's) threads very closely, because I like his exhaust designs. When this B&B system craps out on me, I'd like to get one of his header systems with the heat.

Gotta love a freshly rebuilt engine. Represents a lot of miles of good times ahead.
I'll have heat exchangers soon; just give me a holler when your ready.

You're not going to install that new motor and wait until spring to drive it are you? That's criminal !!!
Beautiful car BTW. |

Hi Rocket,
I DID drive the car approx. 120 miles back from Minneapolis to my home last Sunday. Couldn't help drivin' 80 to 100 MPH for part of the way. The temps are forecast to go below freezing next week with snow on the way. I may have to button her up this weekend, but I'll drive her as long as I can this year. Thanks. PS. The heat works great, too. ____________________ Steve 1989 930S Factory Slant |

Thanks, Paul. The aero mirrors seem to look a lot better than the ol' flag mirrors anyway, even if they ain't original. The temp. here is now 28 degrees with light snow, and is not forecast to go above freezing for at least the next week. I can easily drive in the cold, but I don't like drivin' the turbo on slick roads...

Also keep in mind all low profile performance tires are summer only tires.
When it goes below around 50 degrees out they will be out of their element and will become slippery on dry pavement. |
