The Old One could use some help !!!!
Can anyone help me with a some pics of the AC brackets on 79-85 Euro 930. I
have the brackets but can't seem to put together where and how they attach. I have searched and found nothing that helps. I have manuals and the Pet and still nothing helps. This is truley an instance where pictures would be worth a thousand words. Thanks in advance !!!!!! Cole

Looking fwd to see your CIS relocation. Oh BTW, isn't this forum great!?! That's the 1st time I saw metal bracket AC assembly. I thought all AC brackets were aluminum.

Hey Mikie !!!!
Hope thing are going well buddy. The calender looks like it should be a big hit. Great pics. Gracie told me to tell you HI !!!!!! Those old steel AC brackets are the reason the cars all leaned on the passenger side. I took the da-- thing off 20 years ago and could find nothing on how it goes back on. I'm actually using the original to get mounting hole location holes. I have a friend that's going to fab one out of ALU. I should have sent it to you and you could have taken it to work. The best to you and the family my friend !!!! Cole

If anything, the weight of the steel bracket (not much, really) may help to counteract the weight of the turbocharger, which as you know is on the driver's side ![]()

Jacob,
Excellent point my friend. Ends up being a counterbalance, all this time it was just superb German Engineering.

These cars came with AC?
Cole, I relocated the CIS on a twin turbocharged engine a few years back. Made my own mounting brackets. The only requirement I used was that the air metering plate sit parallel to the ground when in the resting/closed position, and I'm not so sure that is mandatory.

I cant help much but looks intresting I would not think the metering plate be level because it is rarely level while driving the car. Good luck I would try some kind of trick billet mount.

If there was a difference in how the metering plate would react, that would mostly be because gravity now "influencing" the plate differently and the resistance in the travel, again due to gravity has changed. If this is the case, can't one not just adjust the WUR the regain the correct CP? etc. Jesper |

That's true but I was thinking about when the car is sitting and the fuel pressure bleeds off, a picky point.

Hey Cole!
Ya, will you give Gracie a dog treat and pat her head for me?!? ![]() Thanks for your comments on the calendar. About the weight of the AC balancing out the turbo...isn't your turbo going to be centered behind the engine??? I think so; therefore, disregard what others said about the car leaning! ![]() Looking forward see your completed Old Sled and to cruise with ya to P2O next year (it's usually at the end of July).

Mike:
I'll be ready in July !!!!! Brian & Jesper: This same CIS has been used on hundreds of different cars and in hundreds of different locations. I think as long as you keep it reasonably level and don't mount it upside down it will be fine. Besides that I have an edge, I'm also installing the "Magic Mystery Velocity Cone" Cole
