I just came across this thread while looking for a 930 Lightweight thread. Looks like this car was sold. Anyone know if the new owner is on Pelican?

Don't know if he's on Pelican, but he's local to us in AZ.
The buyer brought it to us to replace the CIS with EFI, and upgrade the turbo system. We built it some twin-scroll headers for a BorgWarner EFR turbo, a twin-tip dump pipe, and a full-width intercooler.
Re-plumbed the fuel system with new BMRS lightweight PTFE hose.
She was really responsive and made good power.

Weighed the car out of curiosity:

Well that re-defines “lite”.

That really sets the lightweight bar! I’d sure like to learn more about this car.

Chris: Any comparison data for that EFR turbo VS. Bullets or GT line?

That lightweight looks like a Beast!
And the Twin Tip Dump Pipe looks great, would it bolt up and replace my Zork?

That EFR had *slightly* better throttle response and torque at 3,000rpm vs. a 1st gen GT3582R turbocharger.

Would it be better than a twin-scroll Gen2 GTX3282R? Probably not.
Better than a new G-series? Even less likely -- but difficult to compare, as most of the G-series turbine housings are v-band inlet and therefore not totally conducive to conventional 930 headers.

I don't know what you mean by "Bullets" turbocharger.

While the EFR made for a very tidy installation -- integrated wastegate in the twin-scroll housing, integrated BOV -- you have to consider that the turbine housing is much longer, and therefore the standard aftermarket headers do not work because of the turbine inlet flange position (left-right, angle). And a wholly custom muffler is required, or in this case, a custom dump pipe.

Thanks, and no, this would not. It was custom made for this turbocharger on this car.

That was the answer I expected but was hoping to hear you were making these in different configurations. I might have to practice up on those long lost welding skills.
