Run E-85(any amount) on CIS turbo
We have E-85 available at some stations.
In small amounts(say 5-10% of full tank) is E-85 any bonus/problem? 86 'stock' 3.3 Thanks ![]()

That 'll lean it out with no CO or steady warm cruise control pressure adjustments to the CIS because the ethanol alcohol molecule has oxygen in it and adding/mixing it into gasoline leans out the final AFR. Most pump gas is E10 or 10% ethanol right now.
Then there is the question of how long it will take the ethanol to possibly swell and eat the multiple rubber orings in the CIS fuel head. Not sure how long bosch fuel pumps made for gasoline will tolerate ethanol either. Guess you'll just have to try it. |

Thanks...
I know already here in CA, it's somewhere around 7-10% Ethanol right now. I guess the E-85 is 85% Ethanol Not going to risk pushing it little or no knowledge of what the E-85 will do on an experimental basis. ![]()

so far the E85 has had no effect on my stock pumps. As for mixing it with gasoline I have read about some guys experimenting with that on newer EFI vehicles. They all seem to get around a 35% E-85 / 65% gasoline mix before the mixture becomes too lean and causes driveability issues. But if you plan on using it in the archaic CIS system make sure you use an additive (for lubricating properties) and watch your wideband.
Most if not all of them noted an increase in power, from a mini-van driver only after cheaper fuel alternatives to a guy with an STI Subie.. |

I read on here somewhere awhile ago the our fuel heads are machined parts with very tight clearances ...no "O" rings to get damaged.........I do not know if it to be true or not

Most modern fuels already contain up to 10%, most cars can handle up to about 15%.
