Ok, just spent 2 hours trying to find the replacement part for this here on Pelican.
It goes to the compressor but none of the "pic's" match. It turns to rubber then to the compressor. Anyone order one of these> Mine has a nice split forming. ![]() Last edited by Benny771; 02-16-2013 at 03:00 PM.. |

Is that a metal line (looks like it but the picture is very fuzzy)? I ask, because the OEM part is a rubber hose (metal pipe portion only extends down about two inches from the condenser fitting). The part number is 91157315003 (pages 371 and 372 of the PET) . . .

That looks like the 964 turbo high pressure line going to the condensor. Try looking for one of those instead of a 911 turbo or 930 line.

Benny, the part number I cited is for the hose that goes from the right side of the condenser to the discharge/high pressure port on the compressor for 911/930 of your vintage (including on my car, a 1987). The picture/drawing in the PET shows the hose going to the larger condenser found in a non-turbo 911, but you will notice that just above it, is pictured the small, 930 condenser and the implication is that the hose is used for both applications (this is how the PET, and most parts diagrams are typically arranged). I would say that someone in the past used a non-factory part on your car . . .
Here is the PET. I've seen that one before in pictures here. If it isn't from a 965 or 964 turbo maybe someone was making those and selling them here or on rennlist.
Anyway, a new AC barrier hose made by a hydraulic hose shop locally if you have one nearby or whatever will be the best soloution and lowest cost vs buying a new factory one from wherever. I have no idea what compressor you have or if it has oring or flare fittings but you could get the hose you need from any of these places. A rubber barrier hose in place of the one you have there will work just fine. I imagine you're not in a big hurry for AC right now... |

The factory line is all rubber hose from the compressor high side to the tail condensor in a 930 secured to the hinge with adel clamps.
I'm mistaken about a 964 turbo because I forgot it has a bigger wider intercooler so there is no tail condensor.. it's in the left front fender with a fan and ducting on those cars. That line was made by somebody and if I remember correctly someone was having them made up and then selling them on pelican or rennlist around 4 or 5 years ago. It looks like factory to you because the rubber hose is crimped on to the barbed aluminum line by a hydraulic hose shop. Anytime you have a hose made up professionally like that they are crimped on. If it's done by someone at home they have to use hose clamps unless they have the machine to do it which is unlikely. Do as you wish but replacing that fragile aluminum line with a continuous and flexable rubber AC barrier hose from the compressor to the condensor is the best soloution. Now I see that you have the origonal nippondenso AC compressor and those usually have o-ring fittings. |

I kinda like the steel tube design compared to what i have seen. Is it possible to take it to a "hose" place and have them use it or do you think it would be a one shot deal ?

Only a hose place guy can answer that for you after seeing it and from your pictures you can't even see whats wrong with it.
The tube is probably aluminum but if a magnet sticks to it obviously it's steel. |
