Fuse block question

I have another thread on the fuses that the PO put in place of the fuel pump relays. So today I started to get into the wiring a bit and I am a little confused by some of the things that were done. The wire nuts are just ridiculous who would connect wires this way?
My question in this thread is there is a wire running from the positive terminal on the battery to the lower lug on one of the fuses. The fuse that it connects to is a constant powered fuse. If you look at the picture you can see the black wire with the fuse holder in line connected to the lower lug. That black wire is the one that runs directly to the battery. Why would doing this be necessary? I want to remove this wire as it is done very poorly.

It's not a Porsche thing. Somebody has added stuff (aftermarket radio?). Why not take the fuse out and see if the radio clock goes out. Also, aftermarket alarms are connected that way sometimes.

I am aware it is not factory. It is connected directly from the fuse block to the positive terminal on the battery. If I disconnect the wire and test the fuse lug the lug is still powered that is why I am confused as to why someone would run this wire.

I understand. If you pull the aftermarket fuse out of the holder and everything still works, that proves there is nothing y'ed into the added wire between the fuse and battery. I nothing is, I see no reason why you could not remove it.

It would be good if you can find another car same year as yours and study it's fuse panel wiring and use it as a guide to sort out and redo yours starting at one end and working across to the other end.
what a mess...

That is a very good idea would be a big help to have an actual fuse block wired properly to reference to. I can't think of any good reason to supply power to a fuse already powered.
The car is such a great car in every aspect with the exception of this fuse block. Low miles, well maintained, much documentation including original window sticker. So I can't complain to much but some people should never be allowed to touch anything on a car especially when they do work like this.

you have a real messon your hands.
the big inknown is why was any of this done b ecause one your starighten out the fuse panel parts, there may be other problems.
i dont get the double fuse thing they have going on.

first thing i noticed was the missing relays. this makes me ask if the fuel pumps run with the key on and engine off??

go up to the sticky and go to the end. there is a block diagram of the fuel pumps and a short write up i did on how it works.

i have really been wacking my brain over how i can improve the fuel pump circuit and the headlight circuit without doing any parmanant changes or making it look factory, but it has really been hard. this perhaps should be its own thread as it will not really help you and will get long.

let me know what i can do, i too have an 86 and i jsut printed out the wiring diagram and in the process of putting it together but some of the print is very bad.

if think your only real option is to just get the wiring diagram, pull some wires off and figure out how it should be and not worry so much about what they did.
