Wireless AFR
I like the idea of this product to keep my dash stock looking and am considering this AFR system: http://www.aemelectronics.com/wideband-air-fuel-systems-15/x-wifi-wideband-air-fuel-uego-controller-egt-monitor-34/
Has anybody used this and can you provide any feedback as to ease of setup and usefulness? |

I have installed an AEM UEGO wideband setup with digital gauge in my Subaru and love it. It was easy to install, doesn't require calibration, and is quick. I haven't dealt with their wifi product but if it is anything like their other UEGO, I would suggest it. I also log using a serial to USB adapter.

Now THAT would be awesome if it works!
The 911/930 has a loooong way for the cable to snake making mounting an issue.

You may have to velcro the iPhone to the dash to get readings...

Thanks for the feedback. Just ordered it. They say the unit isn't weatherproof so my plan is to mount the control unit under the seat and rig up something to hold the iPhone. Will give a report once I get it installed - probably be a couple of weeks anyway.
On another note, does anyone know where to get shims for the fuel head - I need to raise system pressure a little from 5.8. I can't find the shims on pelican or with google search. Maybe just find a used head a junkyard and take shims out of it? Thanks! |

iPhone? It's not stand alone? I didn't copy/paste the link. Not interested in that.

I have to say thats pretty cool! The fact it works off the iphone may not be a deal breaker. This unit sounds portable, so you can use it on multiple cars. Thats a big plus.
$379 is a bit steep, though... Bo |

For the shims I think you can get metric washers that will fit from someplace like Ace hardware. If you need a very thin piece this won't work though. Take a sample shim with you.

Now, I'm here to tell ya....my company just upgraded my dinosaur cell phone to an iPhone (not sure what the "i" stands for, but this sure as chit aint just a phone). Just two days ago, and I've entered the world of the gadget obsessed. You can see me nowadays walking through life with my head pointed down towards my communication crutch, checking IM's, emails, the stock market, texting people, getting directions.....you name it, the all consuming pastime of the young and innocent. That's all that life is about anymore. But....if it will give me AFR's, I can dig it. Never too old to learn new tricks. My ma, who turns 86 next month, would love one of these. She handles this sort of technology pretty well still.

In the unlikely event that somebody wouldn't embrace this technology, just because they are stubborn, one could just opt for an iPod with wifi and make an integrated mount in the dash by the ashtray. Then hook the iPod up with a permanent installed car charger, and you are set. This way you have avoided being categorized with any of them iPhone youngsta'z. Also, if you have progressed from trying to install that record player in the back seat. The iPod could be used as a control head for your sound system - The sound system is obviously only for watching YouTube Porsche videos, in the best seat in the house, during winter times.
One thing is sticking with CIS for sentimental reasons, but there's gotta be a limit... ![]() I think this type of gauge is awesome, it seems simple.

![]() Back in the day, big electronic technology breakthroughs were in the form of sliderule replacements, later called calculators (I had one...it did all the basic math functions with the added benefit of square roots...and it was something like $80). Email and the net were not even dreamed of yet. Plastic, as the new space age material, was just gaining steam. Sorry for the hijack, but WTF (wtf, is that a texting thing; what does it mean?)
