I got one from a vw place in Cali works phenomenal. I turned Fairman onto the place and he got one as well. I'm sure he will chime in so I don't have to dig through receipts

There's no big advantage to a high output alternator in a totally stock car but if you live in a hot climate and have a bunch of extra AC condensors and condensor fans, or a car stereo with a high power external amp and sometimes you like to listen to music loud with lots of bass than the stock 90 amp alternator can't keep up at idle speed and the battery will discharge in a short time to where it won't start the car.
On a hot humid summer day here in Florida I had to wait in a long line of cars at a bank drive thru. I had the AC on high and the motor was running at idle speed for around 20 minutes. When I stopped at the drive through I shut the motor off. Then when I tried to re start the car the battery was run down too far to start it because the stock 90 amp Valeo alternator couldn't keep up with the extra 10" AC condensor fans running full speed while the motor is at idle speed. That really sucked... With the 160 amp BNR alternator Frank turned me on to that won't happen anymore because it always shows a healthy charge at idle no matter what. I have a 12 volt VDO gauge in the car so I see that. Here's an ebay link to it and some pics I took of mine before installing it. The quality of it is like a new one and the price is good. BNR put their phone number in the ebay ad so you can call them. ![]() ![]() |

Does the stock duct/shroud fit over the back of this high output alternator?

Yes, it's rebuilt from a 90 amp Valeo alternator casing so it's the exact same size externally. BNR's phone number is in the ebay ad down at the bottom of the page if you want to ask them anything.
