				Fanring Question

Hello everyone, does anyone know if it's okay to mount the fan ring 'upside down' or meaning the numbrers are located under/at the bottom. Mine is chipped where the numbers are and looks unsightly. Sorry for the stupid question....Thanks!

No, you can't. There is a short pin or peg on the engine that has a mating spot on the fan housing that locates it to the engine in the cradle. Also, there is a timing mark on the fan housing and it need to be on the bottom.

I'm surprised no one has made the joke about the OP being on the bottom side of the world, so upside down might end up being right way up!

Mounting to hide the issue is not an option but they can be repaired. Most are magnesium so a good welder can repair it. I have also seen some pretty cool repairs using a machinable epoxy. Both of these repair will require some sort of paint to hide the issue but Cerakote can make the housing look pretty cool. We do them in black and platinum.

On this subject, is the original fan shroud coating paint or powder coat? If powder coat, is there a recommended method of removal?...

Yep, Henry, I did mean fan ring. Thank you. Mine has been coated with something, but I guess not from the factory...
