calling it a night. we got the case halves together and checked all of the case bores. i do not trust gauges, therefore i use not only the goto sunnen bore gauge with setting fixture; but i use my mitutoyo holtest inside micrometers. everything measured in spec.

we torqued the though case bolts.

if you are not familiar with how a bore gauge works, but at the rock over point is when you get the actual dimension therefore its hard to get the rock over point on camera. so the pics of the bore gauge are arbitrary.

the bore gauge is set with the setting fixture.

my favorite is to use a mitutoyo inside micrometer! i try to keep the room temp and humidity to the temp/hum that mitutoyo used when they calibrated these tools.

first i zero them.

Nice work.

Who did you use for plating ? So few good platers in the DFW area. Who machined the heads?

TIA !

i get the heads done with a retired machinist that works by appointment only for long time clients. he also gets my hardware plated by one of his venders.

i was trained by the legend John Bray, owner of evospec in AZ, many moons ago and he sets a high standard at his shop. you have to spend one solid day minimum cleaning all of the parts one by one, over and over and over...

here we measure the crank with outside micrometers. first we zero the micrometer then start with the main journals.

ADD 50MM TO EACH MEASURMENT
