Hard to argue with the “look” of trumpets, but I’ll be dammed if your motor doesn’t look great.

Speaking of looks Jac, still waiting to see those 7" aluminum steelies I sent you last year on your ride.

I have not tried AT or JSR but they both look very interesting to me.

On a street car you will not noticed the difference between most of the readily available ITB setups. The end result will be your ECU choice and more specifically the tuner that completes the installation, setup and tuning process. This is where you get excellent or mediocre results.

for a street car I would make sure you have good filtration. There are many examples of cars with open stacks. This is just asking for water or dirt ingress leading to damage. I am not a fan of the snap on "mesh filters". to me they rob too much power.
Jamie, I find it odd that you had trouble sorting filter options for Jenvey and RHD, as they offer them....

The Jenvey's do require a few extra minutes getting them dialed in, but then are very stable and repeatable. To date, they have been our "go to".

The PMO, not sure if you can even get them even after the EMPI aquisitsion, used all Weber compatible parts. The manifold was the biggest detractor...

Cheers

If I had my time again, and knowing that Clewett are now using the Haltec ECU range, I would definitely go with them, just for the support they are known for. I don’t have any experience with his new ITB, but they look great.
Did you recently pick this up and if so where were you able to get it from?

Thank you

Hi Henry

What’s the article number of that ITG filter? Are you using the standard baseplate or have you cut it yourself?

Curious to know the measurements

Cheers!

Good overview of available kits from Jeff.

I made my own conversion using GSXR throttles, custom manifolds and linkage. Used Pipercross filters and CNC cut custom filter backplates. Definitely not too easy but it iw working great.
Regarding idle air, with electronic throttle setup there is no need for such thing. DBW compensates for cold starts, any higher load at idle (for example high beams etc), always perfect idle like normal car.
Plus one can have custom pedal vs throttle opening profiles, helps traffic driving tremendously.
I used BMW E46 M3 (S54B32) throttle actuator and BMW E46 throttle pedal. VEMS ECU controls everything.

These are some of the things I am really looking forward to with my new DBW setupfor my race car. No more having to sit in the car to keep it running until it warms up. Just start the engine and forget about it. I'll set idle speed based on head temperature via the MoTec M150.

Being able to control the throttle using a progressive curve of my choosing is going to be awesome!

I ran Andrews kit for a year and we had a major issue with the AEM brain and his crank sensor. I then swapped (my cost) the AEM for a Motec which helped but still wasn't perfect. I would agree, the service was not great, and then out of nowhere Andrew just closed shop.

Buy based on service, these are not plug and play systems.

Mark at Exotech just did RHD throttle bodies, COP, and a MaxxECU on my 3 liter for my 914. It's wild to just reach in and hit the start button. The car starts immediately and just idles. He has to finish tuning it, but it was really fun at Summit Point this weekend!

The Maxx is really powerful. I have future plans for DBW, but that is a ways out.

Curious, what are the pro/con of a centralized TB and plenum versus ITBs?

For one and it’s a major one - the 964 setup is easier to tune as there are less variables to deal with.

I won't claim to be an expert, but Mark at Exotech had my car start, idle, and drive very quickly without trouble. The on track tuning was close and he is getting that dialed in really quick. As a customer, I don't think the ITB made it any harder.

When using a common plenum with a single throttle body you are limited to cams with small overlap. When there is large cam overlap and a common plenum the air/fuel mixture will be blown back into the intake at idle and low speeds making for a poor running car. Because ITB's and carbs have a throttle plate over each cylinder that is closed at idle they keep the aif/fuel mixture from being blown back up the intake. This allows you to have a more aggressive cams and still have a car that will idle and run well at low rpms. So cam choice can dictate what type of intake you use.
