2.7 motor low oil pressure

I have a twin plug hot rod motor in my 914 GT tribute. Less than 10,000 miles since rebuild and correct gauge and sender combo. Struggles to maintain one bar per 1000 rpm when warm. Recent leakdown showed 2% throughout the cylinders. It has a larger front oil cooler. Any thought that the extra cooler and oil line capacity might be too much for the oil pump? Trying to understand what is going on.

What's the current oil weight you are using, and is this first time you noticed this after 10k miles or did just start?

PO had the rebuild done and pressure has been low since my ownership a couple of years ago. Engine is running VR1 dino 20/50.

44 psi hot doesn’t sound too bad. What oil pump? Updated pil pressure relief valves? Bypass mod?

44 psi sounds a bit low, even for an early motor.

What are the oil temps? Higher temps could be a cause of lower pressure.

You could install the cam tower oil hose restrictor fittings to get a bit more pressure. Not a big fan, but porsche designed them....

Is the 2.7 known for lower oil pressure readings?

We've been moderating cam oil feed since the mid 80s. When Porsche came out with theirs in the 965 (91-92 Turbo) we investigated their version. I believe the 965 cam feed fittings are a little too restrictive.
We still make our own fitting with a slightly larger oil passage and when we encounter the Porsche version we bore them out (slightly).
The modification is a good one if you consider what your goals are.
