I can't answer either question, but turbo motors are a chunk heavier than the early motors I usually see this mod on. While you might be fine, aren't there "safer" places to save weight on a 930?

There is a post somewhere here on the site that someone did a computerized stress test to see how the holes affected the strength of the bar. From what I remember there is no loss of strength from the cutouts. There was a cool image that was colorized to show the stress placed on the bar.

I'm shedding a ton of weight off the engine but it gets addictive (how much is that lightweight starter again? ) Besides the bar all the way at the back of the car.

I haven't weighed the stock FI system, but I know it's a PITA lifting the box of old parts up on the shelf. Then there's the stock 930 clutch pressure plate, what were they thinking?

I've got FEA software at work, but I'm getting lazy. I'll do some searching and maybe run a model myself.

I had a problem when i first lightened the mount I went too LG on the holes. it cracked in one area, my fab guy welded in a small gusset and it has been reliable since. he also drilled lg holes in the mount that bolts to the case

2pac... It's two stage paint system where a hardener is added to paint so that it "chemically dries" rather than just "air dry". Kind of like fibre glass resin.

It's brilliant to work with and has a great finish off the gun, but it's really toxic and you need to use a respirator. There a quite a few threads about it under "painting".
