Beautiful!
I am going to ponder my Dad's 356SC engine now to regain my center...

No matter how you look at it they are all air pumps. They still take the same things to make run. Sure looks crazy, no doubt about that.

Indeed - this is one for the Pelican Wiki. I missed why this engine needed a rebuild.... The pictures and the writeup make it such a simple process. Nice job.

Just curious, if a person was to go to the dealer and purchase one of these engines what would it cost? Complete turn key or how ever it would be sold.

Stephen,
Thank you for taking the time and effort to share these with us. This is fascinating and something I wouldn't normally get a chance to see. Thanks again for sharing!

Now in 993 land ...
|
Great set of images and "instructions". This may explain why the 993 TT still holds its value pretty good? I can't say I am impressed (positively) with the way the peripherals are put together. Hose clamps on the intake runners? Rats nest of wires and hoses? All the same than on my 3.0 SC!

nice coating on the turbos!
but your not kidding about the change from super duper clean to and big mass of wires... though i'm sure if you put your 'mass of wires' next to someone elses 996TT motor your would suddenly seem very nice and organized yet again! since the dream motor topic was lightly hit on, I often wonder what the dream engine is of engine builders such as yourself? are you a fan of the newest ? more powerful? reliable? cleanest? which is your dream engine?

I will take a look and see if I can find them. That was 3 laptops ago. If not let me know what you are looking for. I am currently finishing a 996tt motor I can take a few pics of durning the process.

Oh, specs you will want to get the workshop manual. The timing specs, there are none. You have to use the factory stake tools.

Arghh! I missed this thread first time around (way before my time on the 'Board), but dying to see the original pics!!
...but do appreciate that it's a helluva job to re-link them. I'd hate to think what would happen if Photobucket went away - hundreds and hundreds of pics I'd need to sort out in my own build log.
