Standard/Standard?

When someone is refering to a crank, why do they say STD/STD? Why not just standard?

STD/STD means standard size on the rod journals and standard size on the main journals.

Bearings are the same way. You can have bearings that have a larger outer shell (oversized) to compensate for worn bearing surfaces in a case. Or, bearings that have a larger inner shell, to compensate for worn jounals on a crank.
