Let's play, "Predict the HP Game" (take 2) ---- this time with a 3.6L ;-)
OK folks...
Earlier this year we played "Let's Play - Predict the HP Game!". CamGrinder won by a hair, and took home $60.00 in cold hard cash (cashiers check actually). Now it's time to play again. Call it Round 2 if you will.... The car's the same, but the engine is different. ![]() Here's the details: .................................................. ........................ THE PRIZE: $75.00 US .................................................. ........................ ENGINE SPECS: 964 3.6L twin plug long block - just rebuilt. Larger intake valves (equiv to 993) Web Cam "993 Sport" grind Patric MotorSports 1.75" headers M&K 2 in, 2 out muffler PMO 50mm carbs with 41mm venturis, tall stacks, ITG filters. Electromotive XDi crank fire ignition 1982 911SC, stock 915 gearing .................................................. ........................ OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES: A) The dyno will be performed on the same DynoJet 225x dyno as the previous "Predict the HP Game" contest. B) Power correction: SAE Corrected at the wheels C) Closest Guess (decimals count) over or under D) If multiple people guess the exact same number and that guess is the winning guess, then the prize will be on a pro rata basis (shared) E) Guess is for PEAK HP number F) Dyno test to be done in 4th gear G) You may revise your guess as often as desired. However, you must revise your original guess on your original post. Only one (1) guess post per person (again... which may be revised at will prior to the contest end). H) Contest End: Two (2) days prior to the dyno test, I will announce the contest end. One (1) day prior to the dyno test, I will post the "closing post". The "closing post" shall constitute the end of the contest. Editing or altering your HP guess subsequent to the "closing post" will result in your vote not counting, you cannot win, and the most you can possibly accomplish would be nothing more than pounding sand. :-) .................................................. ........................ Let's see those predictions.... G O TonyG Last edited by TonyG; 12-05-2005 at 09:24 PM.. |

![]() I guessed 200 whp, which is what Tony is telling everyone is 3.0L SC motor made in various threads, so how come I didn't win? Good luck with the new engine, I hope it makes the power you are seeking. ![]() Ralph |

Sorry... in the actual contest, it was won by a "hair" as I said previously. To me it made no difference as I paid out the winnings fair and square. I tried to be fair and honest and offered a time period for any disputes to be settled. This is the reason why I laid out the rules in detail for this contest. Additionally, I feel like the rules spell out very clearly how the contest will be decided, trying to leave no room for judgement calls in any direction. In my posts, not related to the contest, I cliam 200RWHP. In reality it made 199.xxx RWHP :-) I gosta rounds up! But my claims and my contests are two diffent things. One I can fudge a little and one I cannot. So kick CamGrinders butt and one-up him! TonyG

SAE-corrected at wheels? Does it mean that it will be corrected for drivetrain loss?
298.7 hp is my best guess.

Those valves- they will be equivilant to the '95 993 valves, or the '96+?
How long are you going to spend tuning it? This is on CA 91? 2 ways to calculate: 1st: An older Jerry Woods 3.6L C2 with his cam and 46 webbers made 319.3 on the engine dyno. I'll give you +13hp for the bigger valves and 50mm PMOs, then -4 for the new cr@p 91 octane, so est 328.3 crank. My estimate for crank to wheels power conversion from Jerry's dyno to dynojet =293.7 rwhp. 2nd: My 993 Vram made 280.5 rwhp on a dynojet with a 3.8 RS cam. +8 for your solid lifer cam, +8 for the PMOs, -4 for cr@p gas. =292.5 rwhp. Average them: 293.1 rwhp is my official guess. This is fun.

petevb, 911teeo, and all others...
The valve sizes are equal to the +96 This contest will be run on 91 octane pump gas (southern california 91 pump gas that is...if you can even call it gas). I will be tuning the carbs and the ignition map on the dyno for at least a good 1/2 day+ TonyG
