Cylinders
Does anyone know anything about these cylinders?
Sorry if this is a rerun. I'm not building, just curious. From an Ebay ad.

QSC is the manufacturer. There has been a ton of these on the market lately.
Sorry I don't know of anyone currently using these. |

Are you sure these are the same as Henry's?

I would think so since Henry has been selling QSC branded cylinders on ebay as well for some time now.

JP,
I've been looking at the QSC's with the JE pistons for my 2.7 project as well. Let me know what you find... Thanks, Bill P.

They may be fine. Especially if Henry sells them.
For me personally the 9.5 compression cylinders are interesting. I think I'll hold out for the 10:1 cylinders.

QSC = Chinese made. The jury is still out on the quality - I have not had a chance to run them, or inspect them firsthand, although I think they may be in our catalog now...

They are indeed cast, especially if they are the same as Henry's. He and I talked quite a while back and he said they are cast to cut down on cost (apparently with no detriment to quality). I believe that the only machined billet cylinders on the market are Charles' Nickies, while Mike Bruns iron/aluminum cylinders are machined from billet with pressed in iron sleeves.

The only cylinders that are spun cast are the factory cylinders and the Perfect Bore branded cylinders. If I am not mistaken, Mike's sleeves are spun cast too and are ductile iron, not cast iron.

I'm running Henry's Ps&Cs on my 930. 98MM (3.4L) with 7.3:1 CR. I'm still well within the break-in period on my engine, but so far so good. No issues. Time will tell.

Close, but not the same. AA is another manufacturer from China, but they have been around for a few years and are now venturing into other markets. Their focus is on cast iron cylinders and high silicon cast pistons, although they do now have limited forgings for the vw side of their operations.

How can they give you the compression ratio from JUST the cylinders?

Even Motor Meister knows better than that.
And I don't like MM either. They fu*&ed up my son's transmission and would not stand behind it. Doesn't look good for this Ebay seller.
