Rocker side-2-side spec

What is the spec for the side-to-side play for the rocker to cam tower? If over spec, what can you do?

Porsche Crest

Page 207 in Wayne's book (if you promise to buy one for yourself):

Rocker Arm Axial Play: 0.100 to 0.350. Wear limit 0.50.

That would be in mm. Limit would be about 20 thou in inches.

I know of nothing that has been done about this. I have supposed that you could make the bushings a bit wider. For that matter, you could make thin washers.

Most, I think, just ignore it. I've never checked it when rebuilding my engines. Perhaps foolishly, but I can't say I have seen anything obviously prematurely bad as a result.

But maybe one of the professional engine builders will rise to the bait and give a better educated view.

Thanks Walt.
Looks like I have some at the wear limit. Thought about the thin spacer idea, but wondered about where to get them.
