What is this noise.....
When cranking our 2.2 ltr by hand, we can hear a rubbery scrapping, sound on the right bank close to the rear cylinders.
Two months earlier, the previous owner overfilled the motor with oil by 3-4 liters and we suspect ran it. we're wondering if what were hearing is a rubber valve guide jammed on the valve. Turning by hand as we cannot get the motor to run and we suspect this may be why. Thoughts.... Thanks for your input. |

Do a compression and leak-down test and listen to where the leakage comes from.

"rubbery scraping" sounds like a cam chain guide has fallen apart.
The valve guides are bronze, not rubber. ![]()
