What is this noise.....

When cranking our 2.2 ltr by hand, we can hear a rubbery scrapping, sound on the right bank close to the rear cylinders.

Two months earlier, the previous owner overfilled the motor with oil by 3-4 liters and we suspect ran it. we're wondering if what were hearing is a rubber valve guide jammed on the valve. Turning by hand as we cannot get the motor to run and we suspect this may be why. Thoughts....

Thanks for your input.

Do a compression and leak-down test and listen to where the leakage comes from.

"rubbery scraping" sounds like a cam chain guide has fallen apart.

The valve guides are bronze, not rubber.
