The stock ring gear was flat on both sides. This is why I was wondering about orientation. The ring gear which I replaced the stock one with, has a step/ridge which I installed facing the motor. Philip

I eventually learned through some research that the earlier 930 ring gears had a design flaw to where the tooth engagement had a bit too much clearance which would eventually lead to tooth chipping and worse as the gears slowly wore down. Fortunately porsche eventually realized the issue and superceeded the part.

Glad to hear the new starter is working like a charm Rick and great way to get some break in miles on her.

Are you still using the macgyvered coupler or did you get the replacement bushings in yet? :)

Replaced them and was a PITA cuz I had to press the pin outta the coupler in order to rebush it, but I shouldn't have to ever deal with that again:p

Congrats on the trophy! Must feel good knowing your 930 is appreciated by the car community let alone win the show.

On the Rennline wheel adapter...how do you like it? Was it easy to install? How much further does it push the steering wheel away from the dashboard?

CaptainCalf 05-27-2012 12:48 PM

Thanks MikeD94!
The QR was real easy to install cuz I already had a Mono wheel and pushes the wheel out&up about 2.5" total...just about perfect!

Great job rick, and despite my half assed old steering wheel spacers that wheel still needed some extra spacing towards the driver.

Did you see the date stamp on the steering wheel? If memory serves me correcly I think that steering wheel is over 30 years old.

Now you need to get that car to some solo events and win some trophies for being faster than the other guys, lol. ;)

I didn't notice the date on the wheel, but it has held up well and will get a Dyno tune next month so I can put a whoopin on some folks for some solo race trophies:p

No color matching?

I always liked the fuchs with a painted center as compared to the all aluminum look.

Nope, sorry I considered both the black & red centers, but there's just something about a fully polished wheel that I like in addition to being easier to maintain w/o paint to deal with...just polish and go:p

I can't wait for the dyno results. Are you driving it hard yet? Any predictions?

Not driving too hard yet and it needs a new Lambda sensor, so won't be able to get on for a few more weeks till I can get the AFRs sorted. Runnin too rich right now.

However, I have a date with the Dyno in June, but no way to predict yet. I have about 300 miles on new motor and it feels good. Will change oil after 500 and then maybe ill be able to blow out some carbon;)

New Fuchs

I was able to get the Fuchs mounted today, but couldn't complete a corner bal & alignment cuz I need adjustable rear spring plates, which had to be ordered:rolleyes:

I did get a gross wet weight though. It came in at just less then 2900lbs with nearly a full tank of fuel:p

I like the way the Fuchs give it that outlaw hotrod look especially in the rear with those 315s:D

I believe that I read you are using a DTA ECU. Will you be connecting a wideband AFR to it ?
