Older engine in a newer 911- 964
Does anyone know if I can insert a 74 911 2.7 engine with a 901 transmission into a 1990 964 that currently has no engine or drive train? What issues can I expect - other than under powered.

Emissions regs in CA would mean it would need to pass 1990 specs.

Note that the 964 chassis uses a different type of transmission mount. It does not use the same common "dogbone" mount for the 901/915 The 964's G50 has a crossmember that bolts to a large circular rubber isolator on the tail case of the trans. Point being is the forward trans crossmember will be a slight challenge.

The major issues would seem to be shift linkage is different, axles are different and clutch actuation is hydraulic in the newer car.
Once you sort those the other stuff-throttle linkage, wiring and fuel pump would be pretty easy to solve. Oh, no power steering provisions on the old engine.

Less brakes, more gas!

The engine work is probably fairly simple, but the trans is a totally different animal. It would be easier to source a correct trans and then figure out how to mount it to the 2.7 I believe.
