Please Help! Need Good Porsche Mechanic
I almost shipped my 1977 911S to Motor Meister until I read all of the reviews here.
I would like to find a good porsche mechanic in the Ventura County area. Can anyone point me in the right Direction? Thanks!!! |

Thanks Lapkritis! I have been thinking about that but I have never worked on a Porsche engine before. This car sat for 18 years and does not run so kind of wanted to get a sense of what was up with it.

Thanks Turbo_pro! When I spoke with them (Motor Meister) they were friendly, knowledgeable and spent quite a bit of time with me both on phone and via email. I did not sense for a minute that I would have any problems with them.
I am certainly not one to judge anyone and I actually was a bit surprised when I found all of the horror stories/negative feedback. In any event I am still doing my due diligence and would like to find someone local to get an opinion on what I am in store for on this car. Thanks for your info! I really appreciate it! I really want to get this car up and running again!!! |

What are your guys thoughts on rebuilding my '77 911S? I have had a few people tell me that it's not a collector car and that it's not worth restoring? |

Thanks Wildthing! I was very blessed and got an amazing deal on it! Clean title no accidents and overall very good condition. I am going to upload some pics of it. It will definitely need mechanical, some minor body work and a paint job, as well as updating the interior.
The car sat for 18 years and the only info I have on the engine is that someone said it "Blew". It's an all numbers matching 2.7L engine and 915 Tranny with 133k miles. As to what extent the "Blown" engine is I have no idea yet. Last edited by FxAffPro; 06-05-2013 at 07:09 PM.. |

Huge brakes, 400hp and incredible handling for less than the cost of building a hot rod, mid seventies 911.

Rebuilding a 77
Though the newer cars are amazing, there is nothing like the feel of an early, light car. I have a factory 914-6, and 2.7 914-6 hot rod (thanks Henry), and owned a 75 and 87 911. There was definitely a difference in feel from the 75 to the 87.

Hi Guys,
I was on the road traveling most of yesterday, and I just got in and reviewed the posts. First off I wanted to say thanks to all of you for responding to my post, and for all of the info so far! It's greatly appreciated!!! Henry Thanks for the info on Aaron. Someone else also referred me to him and I spoke with him and he is a really great guy! Spent quite a bit of time with me on the phone and as soon as he has some free time in his shop we are going to get the car out there to assess what I am in store for on the rebuild/restoration. I would love to have a GT3, but I would also like to see this car up and running again. This is my first Porsche project and I am actually really excited about it, and/or as my wife would say I am obsessed with it. I have been contemplating keeping it numbers matching and rebuilding the 2.7L or swapping it out for a 3.0L I guess I will know more once Aaron takes a look at it, and we see how bad the engine is or isn't.
