Glyco Rod Bearings (3.2 rod knock)
I just want to be sure I didn't miss anything while researching past threads on the subject.
Am I correct that the general consensus is the Clevite H 77 bearings are the best reasonably priced option for Rod bearings. Engine: 3.2 weekend warrior track use Thanks in advance for any input. Bob

Clevite is the standard in the American iron engines. If I'd have known the issues with Glyco, I would have went Clevite.
It's a piece of mind thing IMO. A gamble. |

The reason those Clevite 77 bearings were developed by Automobile Associates is the result of problems found with the Glyco bearings. I would go with the Clevites w/out question for ANY 3.2/3.3/3.6 rebuild

The last 3 sets I used were the Clevites. I asked about 3.0 Clevites and Automobile Associates told me that they were several months out but suggested and supplied me with GT 3 bearings.

Yep GT3 rod bearings are a direct fit on 3.0 SC rods. Very nice bearings.

Supertec is proud to announce that we now offer Clevite 77 rod bearings for 3.2, 3.3 and 964 in .25mm (.010") undersize. That means you can resize cranks for the best chance at success.

When I did my re-build there was talk of faulty bearings. The suggested fix was having the Glyco bearings coated... Well as we all now know, coating them as a fix; not so much!
Oh well, live and learn. This was my first build so I am actually looking forward to tearing it down and inspecting everything. I had great help in the way of Ted Robinson ![]() Anyway, I thought that would be the reply I received but I wanted to be 100% sure. As always, thank you everybody for the input. Very much appreciated!!

Buck, the Clevite bearings have only been available for a year or so. They were released in response to the discovery that the new, non-German made Glycos were failing.
If you bought your Glycos a few years ago, it's quite likely they were still made in Germany, and are probably fine.
