How did I break my Cam Shafts
-disassembled 2.7 yesterday
-broke the end of the cam shaft off -yes used the crow foot and socket from Pelican -done 3-4 engines before with same tools, never had issues -used (2) 2 foot long 1/2" drive ratchets

I doubt you damaged them.
Its more likely that they were stressed upon installation during the tightening process or perhaps they were dropped. They are more fragile than people think.

- no idea, I bought it from a guy who bought it from a guy deal
- I will measure some of the lobes when I pull the cams from the cam housings

broken cam
Over tightened from a previous installation.These cams are cast and not that strong.Fred

Is that why Porsche changed to the newer style bolt in the '80s?

If anything, this is a good reminder to torque the cam sprocket correctly instead of zapping it with an airgun as I have heard some people do (to remove and install).

really didn't crank that hard on them, put a lot more torque on other ones that didn't bust but came loose just fine
