Angry No Start

I have an '86 911 3.2L. My throttle cable got stuck an revved up real high or about 5 seconds and then the car shut down. It will not start back up. Wondering if the rev limiter is faulty or if I blew up the engine, or what???? Haven't done any tests yet, but I guess I'll check for fuel delivery if the rev limiter is at fault. I haven't had the car very long so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Jim

Can you define "real high?"

I don't know how the rev-limiter works on the computerized 3.2 but if you had a fuel cutout due to overrev, it should cut right back in once rev's dropped.

I doubt you blew the motor, this generally is an unmistakeable sound... You'd probably know it...

Well when the throttle got stuck I didn't notice exactly how high the rpm's were. I was busy trying not to crash, but I assume the rev limiter ingaged, maybe it stalled the engine in the process. Maybe the fuel pump needs to be primed????? When it did stall out I don't remember hearing any unusual sounds or seeing any big clouds of smoke. Thanks, Jim

Check you cruise control cable. The clip at the end of the black sheath can come undone. Make sure it is secured in it's bracket. If you look at a few 3.2's you'll see a lot of these zip tied because the clip breaks.

Yeah, My mistake ,it was the cruise control cable that got stuck, the black sheath popped out and got caught on the edge of the bracket. I put it back into place. Still trying to figure out why it won't start. Not getting any spark at the spark plugs, getting power to the coil but no spark out of the coil. Defective Coil????????????? If so, I still can't explain why it broke when the cruise control was stuck on. Thanks for your input Chris, -------Jim

Well it wasn't the coil, all it was is a loose electrical plug behind the heater blower, there are three plugs in a vertical row, it was the one in the middle. I should have known it wasn't the coil. Thanks, Jim
