O2 Sensor

Hi All, What's the benefit in removing the O2 sensor on a 2 spark 1100? I have read about people removing it but am not sure about the result. Thanks.

do a search here for the whole story; yanking the 02 sensor is PART (emphasize just part) of a particular tuning schema....which I've had great success with before the advent of the Power Commander for BMW.

I searched, but nothing R12S specific. I would think the electronics on the 11S vs. the 12S is apples to Wienerschnitzel, no? I assume there's no CCP in the new electronics.

Anyone yanked the O2's on the12S? I have the O2 plugs that came with the Remus, so maybe I'll try it.

Anyone? Bobby? Curve? JonyRR? Roger?

the reference above was to an 'original' 1100S, single spark, motronic 2.4

the 12S is a totally different beast, engine management wise, from the 11, and I predict, will respond to tuning in a differnet way. (it seems to be superior, as should be expected after years of progress).

search on:
'0=0 TPS adjust'
'lean misfire'
'cat code plug removal'

If I get time, I'll relate my single-spark tuning schema prior to a PCIII.

Mal, leave the o2 sensors in- there's a lot of engine management gimickry that is associated with them, and get yourself a rapidbike module. afaik, that's the only solution for the hexhead boxers that I'm aware of.

hexhead boxer: BMW-K engine management

oilhead boxer: Bosch Motronic 2.2/2.4 engine management

FYI.

Setup's completely different between the two engine families...

Thanks. I guess I won't screw with them. I'm hearing that from others as well, e.g., Bobby & the guys at Remus.
