You sure that "drilling rig" isn't a concealed launch facility. After all, PopSci says they moved everything out of Area 51... Had to go somewhere.

(Just because it's in print don't make it fit to read)

Again, and as usual, a superior photo. When is the calendar coming out? I use the photos you have been posting as my desktop images. Folks at work are quite impressed even before they learn the story of the cowl.

ck:

It's like this - Iowa is almost flat (has to have some slope 'cause the water runs off somewhere). Now we've had record conditions for corn growth and instead of it being "knee high by the 4th of July" it's above the fence posts about shoulder high. And it appears the farmers have planted 20% more than last year, so right now I can barely see over the top of the crop.

Your photos are wonderful relief from the "green trench" effect.

Strange things in the desert

Hey look, what are these tiny dots?

Oh, must be nice... Nice cool water, beers...

Oh, here comes something else...

Weeee!

Meanwhile, back in my "Treasure of Sierra Madre" world.

Hmmm, No wonder I haven't seen anyone for hours... This thing said 112 degrees a little while ago.

Let's take a look at the river down there.

Ah, forget it, let's go home. Is there a road up that?

Oh, I guess there was.

Jeez ck, great photos of Utah.
I'd love to move out there.....

Until then I'll see if I can get a photo or two of my commute.

Here is one similar to Craig's. This is on hwy 261 south of hwy 95 and Natural Bridge National Park. We will be back in Utah in early September. We're going to visit the Grand Canyon and ride around in Utah.

Craig, would you like to eat pizza and drink beer with Jane and I at that place on Main St that does stone oven pizza? I think it's a brew pub also. Or any other great pizza place you know, our treat.

Philip

The first one is the Shafer Trail. A road the old cattle ranchers used to herd cattle in the early years. Many cows were forced into toppling off the edges to their deaths. It's a sheer cliff face with not a lot of room for fooling around. As a matter of fact the picture of my Jeep perched on the ledge is actually a 150 ft cliff too but the perspective isn't correct.

The Moki Dugway is a great access road for all kinds of early indian ruins and petroglyphs. The whole area around highway 95 is loaded with archeological sites.

pmc847 the Pizza Place is Zax Woodfire Pizza. Of course I can meet you barring any unexpected travel plans.
