Well
IF BIKE was right (and rumors are correct) here's an interesting dilemma: 1. 08 Blade (~158 bhp) DOESN'T need "VTEC" stuff because it's on the limit between "nuclear" power and "common" sense (add some ' ' more for the latter). 2. R1000SS (~ 185/190 bhp, or maybe these are crank horses? - if initial target is to be met) needs "VTEC" stuff because...well...when much is toooo much? Don't go away: count the Big Brother/1198S stuff as well (anti spin, anti traction, anti something). PS: I'm talking for non racers - obviously, that is: 99% of people that would sign the dotted line for that nuclear Beemer.

Peter, here in the states, BMW calls the bike an S1000RR. I guess the R1000SS is the European designation.....

My bad...indeed the name is S1000RR in Europe as well.
Motorrad claims that the SS market is "around" the 230000 mark. Needs some (big) pie. I'm in some turmoil...VS a Blade, that is

Coates has been under a fraud investigation for quite some time about his snake-oil claims regarding his "rotary valve" engine, of which two prototypes have been built, and numerous investors bilked out of money.
I still don't see how that design could possibly be any good at actually moving the volumes of air needed for efficient operation, though.
