Glacier is one my favorite places in the world, and was my backyard growing up. If you want to vedge for a day and get a home cooked meal and decent shower when you're there, let me know. I will call my brother and set it up for you. He lives between Whitefish and Kalispell off of 93. Sort of. And he's got plenty of room.

How does one get abrasive, tactless and direct? It's a concept I never really understood. Or was that blowing smoke, political and vague? Everything gets so confusing in English sometimes.

Wow, some guys are harsh. For me, as a moderator, Ralf can be a little difficult, but some of the critique is pretty stupid too(Andrew?). Ralf posts a lot that is more than inane drivel, and seems to have a much better feel of how bikes and racing work, and be a lot more neutral about bike and marques than many of the fanboys here. Sure, more caustic than most, but some here can't seem to differentiate between the annoyance the caustic nature can evoke, and the actual content, much of which is good. They're losers, in each sense of the word, in this case. A shame.
I hope ralf behaves when here, and has a GREAT trip on the road.
I hope this thread also doesn't stray any more negative, especially given how tongue in cheek it started (at least 'til the whiners jumped in) If it gets bad, it'll go the way of the dodo.

...as far as I can remember, I have ALWAYS stepped back when you "nudged" me, Roger...

I know I overshoot at times but much like any other child, I constantly try to test my boundaries... and - like the good parent you are - you step in here and there and show them to me!

I'll keep rolling that way!

Also, if you have some "just out of the way" photo op stuff or hikes up there, I am all ear for that as well.

Ralph hopefully you'll find a way to work your way through John Day ,Baker City over to Koosia and atleast hit highway 12 to Missoula. I'm sure your quite aware of hyw 12, its scenic, fun, and good pavement along the Locha River with 77mikes of uninterupted curvies. There are several ways to reach Flathead Lake from Missoula. Anyway if you don't hit 12 on the way up maybe on the ride home, you owe it to yourselve. Its a road that makes you feel good about humanity, atleast thats my experiance, when I've ridden it.

Have a good trip, and be nice at the BORDER!!

Yea, many of the border guards don't have much of a sense of humor, and have no comprehension of the meaning of sarcasm.

I had to laugh thinking of Ralph giving the border guards a load of sarcasm....

LOL... Reminds me of the story my dad told me... He was out in AZ visiting my brother Rob... Dad is a
hard headed Geman too.... He was stopped by a border officer who had a hispanic appearance... and asked "Are you a U.S. citizen?" Dad looked at him and said.. "Are You" Then proceeded to tell him how he fought in wars for freedom and didn't appreciate being harassed.... Glad Rob didn't have to bail him out of jail

Any BS. at the border results in an instant strip search. Hope everything works out for Ralph,

I've always heard the border crossings could get tricky. Best just to be polite and only answer questions asked with respect. Some of those guards wouldn't smile if you slipped um a Ben Franklin.

Ahh, the ol stripsearch. I've had that from France into Germany, and between Russia and Finland both ways. Good times. The Germans tore our little Opel up pretty good. You'd have thought it was a 2CV the way they treated it.

Peoples... you are funny! Although I may be a jackass at times, I am NOT stooooopid! I have plenty of international Border experience and see no point in delaying ANY border crossing by giving lip...

And yes, Roger... the border crossing you described... interesting... but that was a long time ago. Europe is more or less border-less these days and all the better for it...

You still get tickets, though....

Thank you, Bingo.
The park campgrounds use to fill up early and then the only camping was by hiking down a trail somewhere and leaving the bike at the trailhead. Good luck.

I have checked the monthly 10 year average for June and it seems that I am early enough to not have to worry... I'll also enjoy the flexibility of not caring much and sleeping on a park bench if need be...

Although in glacier it get COLD almost EVERY night of the year...

Pretty much sums it up.

BTW, along with the 'you can't tell him much' t-shirt, here's the other one : "A German may be wrong, but he is never in doubt."

Ralf, here's to wishing you a fun trip and safe trip. I made many a solo trip cross-country. The irony is that I met far more people and made more friends while solo than when riding with someone.

Thank you, Kent...

Oh ever so true... those lines about Germans!

Funny thing is that every cliche is born out of some sort of truth or another... to top it off, I am not just a "German" but a German Gemini... a poster child at that, it seems!

Although I will refrain from calling your response "stupid", or referring to you as a "loser"; you have to at least acknowledged that there are plenty on this board that have expressed how they feel in the "negative". Thanks for that.

Are we all "losers"? (wait...don't answer that!)

BTW what ever happened to Chris Guetting? Another that has been misunderstood. I know he's doing quite well and enjoying his new R1200S. I just wish some of you guys had a chance to personally chat or ride with the guy, your opions may change. I'm sure the same is true of Ralph or any of us that don't say or write exactly what others expect them to do or say.
With that being said I personally will continue to be as outrageous as possible!! Hopefully I'll offend myself more than others. Please if my comments offend anyone here, just ignore them, there really not of any importance anyway.

You know that I luv you Dee, but Chris can hardly be misunderstood. He is a Nazi sympathizer and an admitted skin head type propagandist. Hardly room for misunderstanding that. In my book, it is unconscionable to even try to make allowances for that behavior.

Both may be great guys to have a beer with, but Signet is hardly in the same league as Chris. Chris is dangerous. Ralph is just simply annoying.

by the way, how does one get "eaten alive" on a bullitin board?
I filter stuff I don't want to hear all of the time. Who among us doesn't?

I believe that the term "eaten alive" may comes from Roman Gladiator days. Slaves that could out-wit the big-ass lion became gladiators. Those with no game, became lion lunch.

Signet fancies himself a deep thinker, a gladiator of sorts. He's clearly not, and would be metaphorically "eaten alive" on other boards already mentioned.

By whom? Ben? No offense, but I can't find those forums to be worth any comparison to this one. PP is significantly more civilized with significantly more knowledge than those. Surely to be "eaten alive" means being done in by rational arguments, as opposed to emotional flaming?

JUST SIMPLY ANNOYING???

Andrew... THAT hurts... here I thought I was ay least expertly annoying... if not superbly annoying... but SIMPLY annoying?

As for Chris, yes... that is one part I am not in agreement with when it comes to him and it has let to fiery debates... but I exclude that and tell him to just keep it to himself and that usually works.

He is not dangerous, just badly misinformed and misguided in some of his thinking.

How I know?... I am expert in it!
