I don’t see how you can generalise the R1200 series Robert, there are significant differences between models. My R12RT is nothing like my R12S.

Robert,

Perhaps you are unaware of the following and its reflection on you, FosterRad, and your products....

A growing number of us perceive your comments over the last year to be condescending, arrogant, and paternalistic. This perception, coupled with the lack of meaningful input from you to this particular thread (despite several posts) does little to enhance your reputation. In fact, it gives the impression that you are threatened by this discussion.

Further, your posts in other "fuel management" threads do little to increase the technical knowledge-base of Board members and serve only to promote your fuel management product while ridiculing those who attempt a technical discussion about how it works.

This is unfortunate because I have been led to believe that you provided valuable technical insight in the past.

I appreciate that you have a product to sell. I also appreciate that it works for several riders - in several cases, once the internal 'factory' settings have been modified to reflect their specific bike. I have bookmarked your site so I can visit there when I want to read your marketing material.

EenyBear, that's your opinion. I have gathered a lot of very good information from Robert. I have bought from him and found him to be very honest and informative. Even to the point of loosing a sale when what I had was probably not as good at his, but close enough so that the effort wouldn't be worth the result.
I just happened to be of the opinion that I don't want to know his proprietary information, just if he has a product that will solve a problem, what is costs, and can I return it if I don't get the expected outcome.
The biggest problem in this thread is that some people want to know information that Robert uses to make a living. If you want to be as knowledgeable as Robert on "fuel management" spend a few years of your life and some of your money and do the R&D Robert has.
Every product he sells has a return policy.

Well I say Robert generally has helpful input, and it's a lot more welcome than the whining about the product or marketing thereof. You've said you've bookmarked it, and I'm sure people have similarly made note of your ongoing critiques of Robert's product, and are, also largely, uninterested in them. If you have something to contribute, then by all means do. It would be much more welcome than just complaining.

He's a long term member of the board who has largely stuck to helping people, often on projects and with products he doesn't sell. That's OK in my book, whether he and I agree on all technical points or not.

Uh... no... this thread has nothing to do with Robert's products. That's my point.

Nothing in this thread should have anything to do with his proprietary information. His products have been promoted and discussed in several other threads. Further, both he and Ben have been asked by OwenM to take their proprietary info "scuffling" elsewhere.

OwenM has stated categorically that this technical thread should not degenerate into yet another Foster thread.

Perhaps the reason you think this has something to do with Robert is because he seems to have felt threatened by an open discuss on resistance tuning and jumped in and referenced his own product in this thread. And then he has persisted in taking on the role of 'thread policeman' - telling everyone to 'stay on topic'. Rather audacious to say the least. I think it's rude.

This is exactly why I made the comment. Yes, it is my opinion. And it is an opinion shared by others in increasing numbers.

And, for the record, I have spoken to Robert on the phone and received good advice that resulted in my approach to a custom exhaust system. In a seperate thread I made a point of thanking him for that valuable advice.

My opinion regarding his recent comments (bordering on hijack) still stands.

I hope you really don't think because someone starts a thread they are the god almighty and can say what can be discussed and what can't?
Threads are thrown out there for comment. Sometimes people agree with one side and sometimes people don't.
In my opinion if you don't like that format you might want to start your own website so you can more tightly control content.

And yet Robert's points are still more on topic than the eeny input.
Nice to have so much help from the mod squad. What would I do w/o the citizen's auxiliary?

Robert and I collaborated some months ago on an FRK/Memjet project, and I have nothing but respect for his knowledge. I don't know what the "increasing numbers" are, probably 3 or 4. I ain't one of 'em. He has a unique way of expressing himself, German syntax with English words, that's all. Having a brother-in-law from Germany, I understand how their sense of humor and plain, to-the-point style of expressing themselves might be construed as borderline brusque. To me, it's refreshing.

P.S. Robert: Off-topic but short. To clarify, my centrifugal idea was to place the units on the lower shaft sprockets, not the cam sprockets. Seems to be plenty of room down there.
