JATO, he already needs a chute just to be legal. A musician and an artist to. You have done a very clean and professional job on that ride. Great lines, symmetry and far improved power. You da man. Wish you lived closer.

Shredder,
Those headers look fantastic. I want one. It seems to be an undated version of what they first brought out. The headers sweep together in front of the motor earlier and I really like the look of them.
Cheers

I'm .3 miles from the real deal where it's parked in a dark, climate/ humidity controlled basement. It sits next to a Harley "mare" to keep it calm.

RoLoo - you have a PM regarding your "old" bellypan.

Stunning work with the HPE headers and new bellypan.
I'm glad you were able to make contact with Nigel at Sandbar.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Best regards,
Ian

Ron, what's the story with the pregnant midpipe. You say it doesn't have a cat, but mine doesn't either, and it doesn't look like yours. Is this the Euro stealth method of making a system look certified while being open? or did the previous owner perform a catalystectomy?

...'pregnant midpipe'...

…I kinda like it this way ; it has a stamped ‘E-keur’ in it, so indeed it looks certified…

...I must admit though, the straight non-cat-pipe you have got, give the it a cleaner look…

...see ; with a 'E-keur'... (the E1 + number thing)

…I had to attach those springs like this ; sadly the Laser pipe doesn’t come with those little hooks…
…and I had to use the springs, because the HPE and Laser don’t mix very well together…

…there is just a tiny bit too much play, to tighten the Laser properly by only using the exhaust clamp…

...that's also the reason why I had to use the centre mounting bracket...
...to give the whole system a bit more stability...

Most (road legal) systems sold here have provisions to put a cat in there. Mind you, for an exhaust to be road legal, it must produce no more than the approved db for that bike.

Note that db says nothing about composition of exhaust gasses. However, in some countries like Germany, in order for the bike to pass the bi-annual inspection, it also has to pass emissions regulations. Other countries, like Holland don't have such inspection and only require the exhaust to make not anymore noise than the amount the vehicle was approved for (+2db for margin) and do not require a catalyst converter to be present, even if there was one from the factory.

So, when you buy a road legal exhaust here, you can separately buy a drop-in catalytic converter, should the country you live in require that. The differences in regulations also provide a nice loophole as you can easily drop in the cat for your inspection and remove it afterwards for a little bit extra power without the law being any wiser.

...TM ; normally HPE has two systems, one, with a cat in the centre pipe like the one I have, and two, a non-cat version, and that one comes with a straight centre pipe, like the one shreddr has...

...somehow, I have the cat. centre pipe without a cat. in it...

Yes, but the non-cat versions are typically designated as 'race' and not road legal while the cat versions typically have a drop-in cat. Speaking in general, not HPE specific.

the next question is whether that bulge actually enhances power. FMF makes pipes for 4-cycle dirt bikes that incorporate a bulge, which they claim enhances HP and reduces dB.
