Question What's Our Group Age

Someone mention on one of the post to do a age poll . I'll set it up with mostly 8 year spreads. I'll set up a poll for years of riding experience later. Any other ideas please comment below.

Hey Joe,

You know it's possible your non-unique end points could confuse some of the 38 years olds (or 31 or 45 or...)

Roger

I see what you mean, could be a young 38 or over the hill. We should get some idea of group average anyway.

I dunno about the rest of you, or your groupies but my groupie is 25.

On a more serious note
Interesting that we are getting such a uniform distrbution about 45. Its really not the classic bell curve thats the surprise, more just curious fact that the mean is what it is.

What's Our Group Age

We have a wonderful friend who comes to our regular meetings of the Gutter
Gang at Lone Star in Austin on Thursday nights, 4-7 pm.....Ardys turned 69 this
birthday, and finished her fourth Iron Butt. Quite a feat for a great grandmother.....
but once you meet her, you get a sense of adventure and pleasure that can be
enjoyed simply messing around on bikes.....
She was also probably responsible for me going for the S over the RT' or the GS.
I kept thinking I'm getting too old to ride a radical bike like the S, or KRS....too
uncomfy.....now, after installing a Corbin Saddle, the bike's very cush, and I plan
on putting a ton of miles on it.......seems like the more you ride, the younger
you get..
Going to be rough at Lone Star after 1 December......Mike Darnell retires from
there that day.....which is going to put the whole show into a quandry........
Mike is still Mr. to most of us "elderly gents"....but we do try to get the
steam up and get some miles on out in the beautiful places......
Mandarin is so fast, it takes an awful lot of years with it.....
My mother always told me I'd end up hanging around "those bike ruffians"
way too long.....
It's always been the grandest company!!!!

Hi all,

Rapt, I'm curious. What were you thinking the average to likely be? I was thinking just over 40, maybe 42.

Niel, yeah, it will be a different game after Mike the Mechanic retires. I considered him a bit of a mentor. He was always supportive for double checking problems I had difficulty solving, or facts I wanted to verify before publishing an article.

We should think of something to get the guy.

later

Personally, I thought it would be around 42 as well (my age!) Nice job on the poll....you could go wild with something like this... color of bike...add-ons...milage per year, etc.Great idea

All right, I give.....how do you "vote"? First it tells me I need to log in (which I then do), then it tells me I'm having an invalid session(!). BTW I turn 49 in 8 days.

I didn't really think about what I expected the average age to be. Possibly a bit younger since its got to be close to BMW's youngest appeal model in spirit.

I guess I just have to resign myself to being one of the young'uns.

Hey does anybody know where I might find some kind of a handlebar mount for my baby bottle.

Well at 43 I thought I would be one of the old farts, but it seems that there are plenty of us old farts that ride the "S". Must be the little boy in us coming out. As for my pillion (Marion) we celebrated her 50th last weekend. Yeah... she wanted a toy boy.
