Did something impressive...

...the other day.

While unlocking my DD, I locked myself out of it.

Let's not revisit that moment of stupidity and move forward shall we.

It's a Ford so it does have the touch keypad on the B pillar.

I kept meaning to set a code but never got around to it.

The $70.00 per minute charge from the locksmith was enough motivation for me to attend to it.

This is a preowned that came without Owners manual and original owners card so the default code to reset is NA.

I know I can go to a Ford dealer and get it but I only want to do that as a last resort.

Anyone know a sequence or hack or some other source for the info?

I know, a long shot and I suspect a trip to a dealer is in my future but hey, costs me nothing to ask.

I seem to recall there being a reset procedure in the manual of my escape. Is there not one in yours?

The original Ford Dealer will have the code in their system where the vehicle was purchased.

Take your pink slip with the VIN to any Ford dealer. When the car was manufactured it had a code fried into the works FOR THAT CAR. Just prove to the dealer it's your car & they should play nice & share. Then set the code to your B-Day. Or write the factory code on the door with a grease pen. Badda-Boom.

The entire point of the thread was to avoid the dealer.

Found how to get the code without having to do that.

my daughter has a F250 that locks the doors when your turn the key to ON!!!
I would like to cut the nads off the idiot that came up with this idea.
cant count how many times I have locked the keys in the truck, usually when I am working on it.
usually I roll a window down because I know I cam going to do it.
would not be so bad if they UNLOCKED when you turn it off. but NOOOOOOO!
at least I have not done it with the engine running

sorry but these auto door locks are about to kill me.
WHY DONT THE ALL THE DOORS UNLOCK WHEN YOU TURN THE IGN OFF!!!
you don't know how many times I go to open the passenger door oif my truck and it is locked. ARGHHH!!
then you have the keyless remotes you have to press a 100 times to unlock ALL the doors and not just the driver door.

this is going to be the death of me.

sorry for the rant....I needed it.

I can control the auto lock feature on my Jaguar in a menu.

I can also set it on or off in the Corvette, and that is a dash designed in the 90's.

The auto door lock is a safety thing.

Ever looked for a way to change it?

Both my cars that have it I can enable/disable.

Our truck does this. Ignition off, doors unlock. It will not lock with the button if the keys are in the ignition and it will not lock if the key is turned on or started with a door opened. It will not re-lock the door if I get out unless it gets over 15mph.

That said, I still dislike it. Our Nissan you could not open the doors if they were locked and that feature got turned off right away. Then again, everything about the Nissan is stupid.

Yes, there is.

The unique factory reset code is printed on the fuse block and can be accessed via the fuse box access panel.

Oh, the car and truck both let you open the doors from the inside, locked or not.
