When we'd go backpacking into the Sespe Wilderness we would always have this waiting on ice for when we got back to the trailhead. $3.99 a six pack at Trader Joes (probably more now).

Lots of the PNW regional beers no longer around...sad. But then, beer is among those things I used to do. That's another part of aging I wasn't warned about...the ever longer list of things you used to do.

Anyway..Blitz Weinhard, Olympia, Heidelburg. Just a few...

My favorite premium beer! It is just over $3.50 per bottle. I am posting this only because I came across that photo on my computer again. That was taken right after a good autocross, and I just finished getting it washed and ready to put away. It was a good day.

That beer is the way beer is supposed to taste!

Back in the college days, Natural Light, but only in bottles, not cans.

Now, the cheapest beer that I drink is probably Guinness Extra Stout. Obviously, I don't drink much beer.

I am in no way a hipster.

I was on a tour of a brewery in South Carolina called Thomas Creek Brewery. The owner was giving a tour, he asked if any of us got headaches from Bud beer, a few of us did. He explained Bud puts rice in its mash, something to do with it expanding the mash and saving costs on more expensive hops. He explained the rice releases an enzyme that causes headaches in a lot of people. I can drink 2 Buds and have a headache an hour later.

I asked which of the cheaper companies stay true to the recipe and not add anything unnecessary. He replied that PBR was one.

I looked for a 6 pack one day after that and grabbed it and liked it. The corner sports bar I frequent has it on tap. It is my go to there as well.

Yuengling used to be my go to cheap beer, I have not had it in ages. PBR is now my cheap beer. When I am not buying $12 six packs of some 9% IPA I like.

That's what the lady next door drank occasionally when I was a kid...she wasn't a hipster and neither am I. I've always picked it if a joint has it in bottles though...but bottles vs cans is a whole 'nuther matter....

You poor thing! The heat and hiking affected your taste buds. I always say "Lite" beer is really good spring water with just a hint of beer.

Yuengling is a luxury for me, I drink it every time I'm on the E coast. I don't think they sell it anywhere W of the Mississippi.

Wow. Some of these responses are bringing back some bad memories.

However, one cheap beer I can still stomach (and like) is Rolling Rock. Some of these other cheap beers y'all have listed...I'll just take a pass.

All beer is cheap in America. Take your pick.

Sixpoint Hi Res IPAis $12 to $14 for a 4 pack.

Hardly cheap.

I have a bunch of Dogfishhead 120 IPA in my fridge aging, I purchased some almost a year ago and others about 6 months ago, once they are over a year I will have one on occasion. They run from $10 to $16 a bottle depending on where you can find it, if you can find it. Very hard to come by.

I'm a lot more pickier now, than I when I was younger .

I think you mean mass produced.....lots of great micro brews imo. I'm a lager guy....Yuengling and Sam Adams....or almost any micro's is fine...I remember college though...well, some of it anyways

Pop into Founders in Grand Rapids. You'll quickly change your tune. Their Kentucky Breakfast Stout is excellent. Their Scottish Ale (Dirty Bastard) is a REALLY good beer. I even like their Porter and that's saying something since I like my own Porter better than most.

He said something like, "my dad used to drink this when we lived up north and they are going to pay us to drink it!" He was so excited. We got it cold and each cracked one open. We didn't even finish a whole beer between us and threw the rest out. It was horrible. You couldn't even pay us to drink that stuff. Hahahaha

It's one thing for beer to taste like water. It's something else entirely for beer to taste like the juice at the bottom of the garbage can at a bar.

No, not really. I love this stuff when I can get it. When I can get it, I think it's about $10/bottle, so I don't get much. I don't think A was able to find any at all last winter. I'm hoping to have some this year.

And it's not the most expensive beer at the place that I get drinks. They have some really expensive stuff, $40-50 for a wine bottle sized beer with a champagne cork. And I don't think that's the most expensive, it's just what I remember seeing.
