Unsubscribe
A few weeks ago I was getting 30+ spam emails a day. I decided to try clicking, unsubscribe to see what happens. Every day, every spam got unsubscribed. After a couple weeks they seemed to decrease. Then it was down to a few. Its now been a week since I received any spam. Hard to believe but it is true. Just thought I would share since I was sure it would not work but it did. Try it and you may like it.

Wait till they sell your email address to other spammers. Which they do.
Used to be extremely active in the anti-spam community. I even helped put one of the most notorious spammers in prison. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Soloway https://www.spamfighter.com/News-8513-Spam-Kingpin-Robert-Soloway-Arrested.htm https://www.wired.com/2011/03/spam-king-robert-soloway/ https://www.spamhaus.org/news/article/611/rokso-spammer-robert-soloway-arrested

G'day!

I don't get very much, fortunately.
I just sent away for a Magic Jack for my landline which has a very nice feature to shut down telemarketers. I hate that crap!

They don’t show up in my inbox but my spam folder has hundreds by the end of the month when I clean it out.
I’ve used one email address for at least 15 years, but have started using another one lately. Slowly I’ll switch everything over. |

Good luck. 2 weeks is not long. Tried that and got more in droves after a month or so.

Another morning without spam. I like it. Maybe it will last a while.

I unsubscribe to legit companies only. My wife asked for a sweater from Coldwater Creek. They started sending spam crap about upcoming sales, and discounts. I really can't possible care less. So unsubscribe. Any other pure spam, if forward to the ISP's spam inbox.

I used to do a lot of business with a company called APPLIED INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES.
Then they hired some marketing genius who thought it would be a good idea to harass their best customers with spam. I've unsubscribed several times but it doesn't matter, they keep sending me spam. And I have not placed an order with them since this started. In fact, I called their main competitor yesterday and requested a quote on some stuff, at least 5 figures worth. That's something I likely would not have done if it weren't for the spam BS. Hint: you can't increase sales by chasing away sales. |

Ive received 7 spam emails in the last 2 weeks. All from the same source, the same day. Unsubscribed them that day and still not getting any. much better than the 30+ I was getting daily.

Quote:
In the weekly corporate e-mail communication, there was a little blurb at the end that said something like GO SPURS! Someone logged onto a computer in my machine shop using a general mechanic group log-in, and replied to all users (25,000 of them) in really big red font, F*uk the Spurs, go Lakers! There were hundreds of replies to that e-mail and almost all of them were reply to all users. IT cut it off after about a half hour or there would have been more. Needless to say my phone was ringing off the hook. Folks at the top were pissed and were looking to fire someone. To make a long story longer, no one ever got fired but I took a lot of heat over it. No one ever fessed up to it, we couldn't prove anything, and that was the end of general group log-in IDs. Last edited by sammyg2; 01-16-2019 at 09:37 AM.. |
