IPad Air 32G, need additional storage ?
I have an old 32G iPad Air which does everything I need it to do. I primarily use it for travel. Books, technical guides, music, a couple of movies for the plane.
Lots of pictures, I am a photographer. I am out of storage room. Room for one small MP4 movie and thats it. I would rather not buy a new ipad just to watch a couple of movies. Does anyone have any experience with watching MP4 (or really any format) movies directly off one of the small external storage drives? Thanks for any guidance and experience. Gary |

Besides moving some of the stuff to the iCloud, the external drives are the only option. I use a iPhone, and I always buy the one with the most memory. My old iPhone 6S is the 128 Gig version. When I do upgrade someday, it will be the 256Gig version. Right now my 6S serves me just fine.

So what's most of the memory used by, images from your photography?
Maybe you need to stop using a 32G device for double duty. You need one of these. "Sanho HyperDrive ColorSpace UDMA 3 Wireless Storage Device" https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1191264-REG/sanho_shdcsudma3000_casing_only_for_udma.html

The 2017 9.7 iMac is a hell of a deal.
Has the pressure sensitive retina display and at right around $300.00 really hard to ignore. You are getting a good portion of the Pro for a lot less. If you are a photog grab the pencil. There are some serious photoshop alternatives that can be had for practically pennies so you can do your photo editing anywhere. The combo is worth every penny.

I use the ipad for final image display, not image storage. I do have portable separate storage for images.
I didn't realize the new iPads were so cheap, but for $350 I still only have 32 g. I was looking at something like the Sandisk ixpand, but they have mixed reviews playing video, with sound issues specifically. I was hoping someone had experience with a similar product that worked. Thanks Gary |

Picked up one of these recently.
Have not tried with the iPad yet, if I get a chance later I will. Thing is stupid small, almost too small. A zippo is bigger and weighs more. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GQPXB3U/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also got one of these, bigger but still small. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0765PBZNL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just in case it may help someone else- I picked up a 64G sandisk ixpand drive for $42.
Works perfectly copy movies to it like a flash drive. Plug it into the lightning connector, it bends nicely around the ipad and stays out of the way. Use the ixpand app, tap the movie you want to play and away we go. Easy. Sure beats buying another ipad. Gary |
