Shipping non-running 911 - NH to Saint Augustine, FL

Just bought a place in Saint Augustine and need to move a non-running project 911 there from NH. It's complete, rolls fine, nothing hanging off of it, etc.

I've received a quote from Reliable Carriers.....pretty pricey. I'm curious what the experience/recommendations of the collective may be.

Thanks in advance!

If you can tow it to I-95 I bet it will roll to Florida on it own.

Byron, that's close to what I was expecting. Instead, Reliable quoted $2,600! Granted, it's enclosed, but it seems way outta line.

With all the auctions coming up for equipment down in Kissimmee you should be able to find some decent rates if you can find a broker willing to post the load. A lot of companies run trucks down there knowing a lot of freight will be moving North after all of the auctions end. A non runner will cost more because there's more time involved in loading/unloading. In the trucking world time is money even more so today because of electronic logging. Hotshot single piece figure about $3/loaded mile. LTL figure about 1.50/loaded mile maybe a bit more due to it being a non runner.
As AB mentioned, bet DOT (and MAC) numbers, when you get DOT and MAC you can search the company and view their profile. Proof of insurance with freight coverage.

Can you live with an open carrier ? If yes then you should be able to get that price whittled down . My limited experience is most of the drivers are Russian or eastern block europeans so pick one that speaks english the best

I have posted about my beyond horrible uship nightmare before...

I’m the guy that is mentioned coming from Calgary for his trial... he is doing 12 - 78 years (yay!).

https://www.dailyitem.com/news/businessman-admits-bilking-of-g/article_53522bdb-10e4-5c1e-b69a-ebf5b9674ef0.html

Oh and the best part is that uship washed their hands of it and he still has a good uship rating despite the fact that he is in jail for ripping off uship customers.

Will you consider open shipping? I worked with a FL based shipping company when we bought my wife’s Ford Flex in FL and had it shipped to KS. Excellent customer service and communication and the car arrived right on time. They were also very affordable. If interested I’ll dig through old emails and find their info. Reliable is probably your most expensive option, consider if you really NEED enclosed shipping.

Uship is like marked down gas station sushi. It’s cheap. It might work out. It probably won’t.

At the bare minimum, if you do can’t pass up what seem like a good deal follow this advise:

GET REFERENCES. CALL THE REFERENCES AND SPEAK WITH THEM. GOOGLE THE CARRIER AND DRIVER’s name and check for priors.

The last one would have saved me money and heartache.

I just shipped two (2) cars with UShip and had great experiences on both. One came from Tulsa, OK the other from Louisville, KY.

Give them a try.

Is the carrier now in jail for ripping off USHIP customers? Does he still have a 5 star USHIP rating?

He may have not ever moved a car B4!
You don't know!
Plus, with no DOT number you may as well hired an idiot dwn the street, there is no difference.
All you could do is sue him personally -good luck
Interesting and strong reaction from you Afterburn.
I've been moving cars across the county for well over 20 years - probably 30 cars or more to date now, so I don't gamble and do my research.

Uship is an option and provides customer feedback which is valuable when making a decision. Many car carriers play the shell game, even some of the high end ones. I also talk to the car hauler, dispatcher, logistics company and even truck driver to make sure I can trust them long before finalizing the transaction.

I also make sure my insurance starts on the day of pick-up, as an additional piece of mind.

I'm not encouraging anyone to gamble, so chill out.

See if anyone coming down for the 12 hours of Sebring can run it down.

As I posted above, the ratings mean nothing. The USHIP scammer that screwed me has a 5 star feedback on USHIP still despite the fact that he is doing 12-78 years in jail for scamming his USHIP customers.

I’m not making this up. Check my links.

The way he worked is that he would do a few good transactions to build up a level of trust. Then he would screw you.

Just because you have good luck with a USHIP shipper once it twice doesn’t mean this will continue.

Don’t trust my links? Google ‘Kurt Keiper Summit Transport Sentence’...

Thanks guys. I've decided that hauling it myself with a rented U-Haul trailer is the best option. I have an F150 FX4, towing package, etc. The only apprehension was the distance, and it sitting in a Marriott parking lot ovewrnight, on an open trailer. Hope to be all moved down sometime in March. The wife and I have had it with the NE winters and are thrilled to be headed to SA. Thanks again!
