IMO, the suspension was a warning shot. Both teams are heavy hitters and willing to go punch for punch (or hip check for hip check if you will). This is a message that we don't this thing ramping up into a blood bath at every game. Sundqvist was the unfortunate one to get the public hanging as a warning to everyone else.

Wow what an ugly game ! :( It was a game of men vs. boys the Blues looked horrible . I don't know if it was home town pressure or what but Binnington let in soft goals like he was getting commission for each one that went in :D Boston looked very strong it will take a Herculean effort by the Blues to tie up the series . If Boston wins game four it is probably over for Blues fans .
|
That was a major best down. The Blues have to win the next game otherwise it's lights out. Bennington looked very average after the first ten minutes.
|
I think that was a disgrace to the Cup. All credit to DA Broons for taking advantage of the Blues mistakes, but the Blues are making this too easy. Four penalties? At a time when you know that has been your weakness? And to leave a man like Pastrnak, PASTRNAK all alone in the crease on a PK strains credulity! Binny didn't play like a Cup goalie, the guys in front of him were without discipline, the forwards didn't do their jobs either. If not for two inadvertent deflections off of Boston skates/legs Rask would have stood a shutout. Boooo St Louis Booooo!
|
A bituva beat down. The goal late in the first period ( coupled with a failed coach's challenge) told the whole story.
Four penalties - 4 goals - all early in the man advantage situations. The Blues had better lift their game - 1 for 14 in Cup games so far..... I believe I just heard the fat lady clearing her throat. Cheers JB |
Wonder if the embarrassed team will come back with a strong game 4?
Bruins get both away games it will be over quickly. |

Well, I won't turn down the gift from St Lou last night. It was the perfect storm. Rask was back to form. The Perfection Line played like it again. Passes were tape to tape. The Bruins D stepped up and matched heavy hitting. It was a 11 on a scale of 1-10 on the Bruins.
That said, Binnington cracked. I wonder if the pressure of being at home pushed him over the edge. He played like a 2nd string goalie and after the first couple he played like a AHL goalie. It will be interesting who plays game 4. I suspect Binny is out for now. As far as the Bruins having it all wrapped up...not so fast. The Blues have shown amazing strength and resiliance at coming back from being down. I think game 4 could be the best one yet if the B's keep up at last night's level and the Blues step up and play like game 2. BTW, short of being convicted of murder, I think Bergeron will be holding his 5th Selkie soon. |
The back up goalie for the Blues is he a seasoned veteran ? Is game four the right time to make a switch ? Or do you give Binnington one more chance and make the switch in game 5 ? Tough call
|
Allen was the #1 but had an ugly 2018 so they put Binnington in out of desperation and he lit it up.
|
If I'm coaching Binny starts number 4, but if he gives up a Mr Softee he will get yanked. Even though he played like a AA goalie he did earn the top spot so he must be given a chance at redemption, and the other 5 guys know that they have a part in those 7 goals as well, it's not all on the keeper. Sit Binny and the other 5 start thinking "we suck too, we let him down". Play him and the front 5 will step up, but as said if he lets in a bad one he's gone.

Wise words there flat let's see how it plays out . I would like to see the series go 7 .
|
What Flat says makes sense. I thought the same thing but on the other hand, some say at this point in a series go with momentum and whoever has the hot hand right now. I think that Allen wasn't good enough is game 3 to not give Binnington one more shot.
Everyone says 6 or 7 games but I'd really like to see this series end in 5 :D |
Winning the Cup at home would be great for the Bruin faithful.
|
Prediction: From 'Bubble Burst Binnington' to 'Bounce-back Binnington'
Excuse the lame schitty alliteration. Series knotted - back to Beantown. Cheers JB |

Based on how the Blues keep coming back after a loss, I would say that they want it more than the Bruins. Gryz is out and now it looks like Chara may be wearing a suit for the rest of the finals. If the Blue get to 3 games they win the cup. :(
|
Last night was a great TEAM effort by the Blues and they finally figured out how to play aggressive and stay out of the penalty box !!! So now it's a 3 game series I know that's what I was hoping for . The Blues have been a good road team so game 5 should be interesting . Rask didn't look unbeatable like he has in almost every other game so maybe feeling the pressure ? But he's entitled to an off game like anyone else and I expect him to snap back . Chara needs to be a quick healer for the B's :D
|
O'Reilleys opening wrap around was a surprise, prolly for Rask too, but his slapper off the rebound from the slot was brutal. If you check saves v shots Rask and Binny played relatively even .919 v .913 but Rask faced 40%? more shots. I can't believe Chara would sit if he's able to lace up, but prolly not up to him.
Best of 3 , here we go. |
Damn! I'm on a roll - 1 for 82 - .012 batting average - obliterating the "Mendoza Line"
Maybe it is just a distorted perception on my part; both of these teams appear to have an almost 'Jekyll & Hyde' personality on a given game day - so far. Best of three - what's not to like? Cheers JB |
